XP ICON Metal Detector

The XP ICON is XP's lightweight, fully wireless entry into the FMF fast multi-frequency family: waterproof, ready to hunt seconds after power-on with three factory programs and three user slots, and built on the same latency-free wireless link and FMF coil ecosystem as the DEUS II. Designed and built in France and backed by XP's warranty, it suits detectorists starting out and experienced hunters who want a featherweight second machine. If you want more adjustability, the step-up XP ICONX adds a 28 kHz gold mode, twelve program slots, and a carbon stem section. Both ICON models are brand new for 2026; if a package shows unavailable, use the Notify Me button and we will email you the moment stock lands. Serious Detecting is an authorized XP dealer and orders over $99 ship free.

XP ICON: XP Performance, Made Accessible

XP built its reputation on the DEUS and DEUS II: fully wireless, French-engineered detectors that set the standard for lightweight performance. The XP ICON brings that same DNA to a simpler, more affordable machine. It uses the same simultaneous FMF multi-frequency technology, the same cable-free design, and the same XP build quality, stripped down to the controls most detectorists actually use: a clean remote, a handful of ready-to-run factory programs, and instant wireless pairing. The result is a metal detector you can hand to a first-timer or throw in the truck as a featherweight backup, without giving up depth or target ID.

ICON vs ICONX: Which XP ICON Is Right for You?

The two models share one core and differ in how far you can push them. The XP ICON runs three factory plus three user programs, multi-frequency plus two single frequencies (4 and 14 kHz), five reactivity levels, and an S-Telescopic Lite stem at about 735 g. The XP ICONX steps up to six factory plus six user programs, a third single frequency (28 kHz) for small and high-conductivity targets, seven reactivity levels, finer 0.5-point discrimination, and a lighter carbon S-Telescopic Lite stem at about 710 g. In short: ICON is the simplest path into XP, and ICONX is for hunters who want more frequency range, finer tuning, and the lightest possible build. Both are also offered bundled with XP's WSA ST wireless headphones.

Built on Proven XP Technology

Under the simplicity is real XP engineering. The ICON range runs simultaneous FMF multi-frequency with automatic and manual frequency shift, and is compatible with the DEUS II FMF and HF2 coil lineup, so the detector grows with you. It's IP68 waterproof, rated to 1.5 m out of the box with the remote cap closed and to 5 m (16 ft) with the BH-02 bone conduction headset, with 25 sensitivity levels, grab/manual/auto ground balance, a 28-segment multi-notch, and a sunlight-readable LCD. Everything is wireless: the MI-6 pinpointer, XP wireless and ST headphones, and the remote all talk over XP's roughly 4-millisecond low-latency protocol across 36 channels, and the XP Go Terrain app logs your routes and finds by GPS. Battery life runs around 11 hours with a roughly 3-hour charge.

Designed & Made in France, Built to Last

Like every XP detector, the ICON range is designed and manufactured in France, and it carries XP's free 5-year warranty, extendable to ten years with registration, plus the Longtime® label for durability and repairability. These are detectors built to be maintained and upgraded over years, not replaced, which is part of why XP holds its value in the used market. Register your detector with XP after purchase to activate the full warranty.

XP ICON FAQs

What is the XP ICON metal detector?

The XP ICON is XP's new lightweight, fully wireless multi-frequency metal detector, launching in 2026 in two models: the ICON and the higher-spec carbon ICONX. Positioned as the affordable entry into the XP ecosystem, it uses the same FMF multi-frequency technology as the DEUS II in a simpler, easier-to-use package designed for beginners and as a backup for experienced detectorists.

What's the difference between the XP ICON and the ICONX?

Both share the same FMF multi-frequency core and wireless design. The ICONX adds more programs (6+6 vs 3+3), a third single frequency (28 kHz), more reactivity levels (7 vs 5), finer 0.5-point discrimination, and a lighter carbon stem (~710 g vs ~735 g). The ICON is the simplest, most affordable entry; the ICONX is for hunters who want more tuning range and the lightest build.

How does the XP ICON compare to the XP Deus II?

The ICON is designed as the lighter, more accessible sibling of the DEUS II. It shares XP's FMF multi-frequency technology and is compatible with DEUS II FMF coils, but simplifies the interface and feature set to keep it easy to use and affordable. The DEUS II remains XP's flagship with the deepest feature set; the ICON brings the core XP experience to a lower price. If you want to step up, see the XP Deus II.

Is the XP ICON waterproof?

Yes, the ICON and ICONX are built for wet sand and shallow water, rated IP68 to 1.5 m (5 ft) out of the box with the remote cap closed. Hunting deeper, to 5 m (16 ft), requires XP's optional BH-02 bone conduction headset. After diving, dry the remote cap before closing it.

When is the XP ICON available?

The XP ICON range launches in summer 2026. As an authorized XP dealer, Serious Detecting will have the ICON and ICONX in stock at launch. Ask us to notify you and we'll let you know the moment it's available to order.

Are XP ICON detectors compatible with my existing XP gear?

Largely, yes. The ICON range is built on the DEUS II FMF ecosystem and works with FMF and HF2 coils, the MI-6 wireless pinpointer, XP wireless and ST headphones, and the XP Go Terrain app, so existing XP accessories carry over and you can expand the setup over time.

Why Reserve Your XP ICON from Serious Detecting

We're an authorized XP dealer, so every ICON and ICONX is genuine, French-made XP stock with XP's free 5-year manufacturer warranty, extendable to ten years with registration, not gray-market import.
