Coiltek Manufacturing

Coiltek manufactures high-performance search coils for Minelab metal detectors and AlgoForce detectors, engineered in Australia to deliver exceptional depth, stability, and sensitivity in tough detecting environments. Our team runs Coiltek coils on the Equinox 800, GPX 6000, and X-Terra PRO, and we've seen firsthand how the Elite Mono, Standard Mono, Double-D, and Anti-Interference configurations handle everything from coin hunting to gold prospecting. Round and elliptical designs let you match coil geometry to terrain type and target density.

Coiltek NOX, Goldhawk, Elite-Max & MYTHTEK Coils for Minelab and AlgoForce Detectors

Coiltek's catalog covers far more than one machine generation. The NOX series (DD, 10x5" to 18") fits the Minelab Equinox series, X-Terra Pro, X-Terra Elite, and Vanquish 460. The Goldhawk series (Mono, 9" to 14x9") is purpose-built for the GPX 6000. The Elite-Max series (Mono) runs on Minelab SD, GP, and GPX detectors as well as AlgoForce E1500 machines, and the MYTHTEK series serves the Minelab Manticore. Elite Mono designs target maximum single-object depth, Standard Mono balances depth and weight for all-day hunting, Double-D stabilizes performance in mineralized soil and saltwater, and Anti-Interference designs reject EMI in urban parks and high-traffic sites. Every coil features Coiltek's precision winding and epoxy-sealed construction, engineered in Australia and built to survive rock strikes and submerged hunts.

Picking Between Round and Elliptical Designs for Coin, Relic, and Gold Hunting

Round coils sweep faster in open fields and cover ground efficiently when you're grid-searching for coins or relics. Elliptical coils maneuver between fence posts, around trash piles, and through brushy gold patches where a round coil won't fit. We run the 10x5" NOX DD for park hunting and the 14x9" Goldhawk Mono in the goldfields. The larger footprint on elliptical coils also increases depth on nuggets and deep silver without the weight penalty of a full-size round coil. For a deeper walkthrough of coil geometry and sizing, see our search coil selection guide.

Coiltek coil types by ground condition and target application
Coil Type Coiltek Series Ideal Ground Conditions Best Target Applications
Double-D (DD) NOX, MYTHTEK Highly mineralized soil, black sand, saltwater Relic hunting in red clay, wet beach hunting
Mono / Elite Mono Goldhawk, Elite-Max Mild to moderate ground, clean terrain Maximum depth on single targets, gold prospecting
Anti-Interference SD/GP/GPX specialty Urban parks, high EMI areas Coin shooting near powerlines or residential zones

Coil Covers and Field Durability

Every Coiltek coil pairs with a matching coil cover to protect the epoxy shell from abrasion. We've cracked unprotected coils on basalt outcrops and river cobble, and the repair cost exceeds the price of a cover — install one before the first hunt. Coiltek coils handle full submersion on waterproof Minelab models such as the Equinox and Manticore (on the GPX 6000, the coil is waterproof but the control box is not). The cable entry point is the vulnerable spot: inspect the strain relief after beach hunts and rinse saltwater residue to prevent corrosion. For more field techniques, see our metal detecting tips and FAQs.

Target Recovery and Field Setup

Upgrading to a deeper-punching Coiltek coil means you will be recovering targets from greater depths and tougher terrain. To reduce fatigue and avoid damaging targets, pair your setup with heavy-duty digging tools designed for your soil type — a tempered steel digger for woods and pastures, or a sand scoop for the beach. A pinpointer speeds up recovery once the plug is out. If you are shopping for a completely new setup, make sure your chosen coil matches the correct machine in our metal detectors collection — coil connectors are heavily model-specific, and we list compatibility on every product page.
