Gold-N-Sand Hand Dredges: The X-Stream Hybrid Pro and Quick Sniper

Gold-N-Sand builds non-motorized hand dredges that pull gold-bearing gravel out of creek beds and bedrock crevices with nothing but a plunger stroke. The flagship X-Stream Hybrid Pro is the result of ten years of design refinement: a fully submersible hand suction dredge with a patented valve that prevents clogging and spitting, time-tested leather cups for strong suction, and a valve gasket you can replace in the field. Because there is no gas engine or battery, these tools may be permitted in watersheds where motorized suction dredging is restricted. Always check your local regulations before you dig. This collection carries every X-Stream configuration, the compact Quick Sniper crevice pump, the Boomer Box sluice attachment, and all replacement parts.

Choosing Between the X-Stream Hybrid Pro and Quick Sniper

Here is how the two Gold-N-Sand models compare:

Feature X-Stream Hybrid Pro Quick Sniper
Primary Use Bulk material collection and processing Precision crevice cleaning
Best For Sampling multiple spots along a creek bed Extracting fine gold from narrow cracks and under boulders
Size 30" pump plus 8" extension and three swappable nozzles Under 24" long, fits in any backpack
Includes 6 ft hose, 2-gallon Quick View bucket with Gamma Lid, Sniper, Bulk Sand, and Classifier nozzles Flexible nozzle, internal separation cavity, optional Ergo Handle
Expert Tip: Our team finds the Quick Sniper indispensable for reaching into tight bedrock cracks where heavier gold settles. Once you have cleared the top layer of gravel with heavy-duty prospecting shovels and digging tools, use the Quick Sniper to extract the fine gold hiding in those hard-to-reach crevices. Its internal cavity holds the heavy material through 4 to 5 strokes while lighter sediment flushes back into the water.

Three Nozzles, One Pump

The X-Stream Hybrid Pro ships with a nozzle for each job: the Sniper Nozzle with Rock Block reaches into cracks and crevices, the Bulk Sand Nozzle draws sand and material up to half an inch fast, and the Classifier Nozzle filters out sticks and leaves so only number 8 mesh and smaller reaches your bucket. Bundled configurations add the Ergo Handle for easier pumping, extra leather cups and valve diaphragms for long trips, or the Boomer Box. Builders can start from the Kit Essentials package, which supplies the proprietary valve and cup components so you can build a custom-length pump suited to your height and reach.

The Boomer Box: From Hand Dredge to In-Stream Sluice

The 10" Boomer Box slides onto the front edge of the X-Stream's flare and turns the hand dredge into a compact in-stream power sluice with no bucket required and no motor involved, which keeps it friendly to regulations that prohibit motorized equipment. It can also feed any 10" sluice from another water source. Prefer a dedicated sluice? Compare the packable Dr. Sluice drop riffle boxes for a classic gravity setup.

Complete Your Prospecting Setup

A hand dredge fills the bucket, and the rest of your kit turns that gravel into gold. Locate productive ground with a gold metal detector, move overburden with digging tools and picks, and clean your concentrates with gold pans and classifiers from our gold prospecting equipment collection. For faster final cleanup, run cons through a Blue Bowl concentrator or a Gold Magic spiral wheel, and dry-land crevicers should look at the Gold Buddy nugget suckers. New to the water?
