What is a Blue Bowl concentrator?

A Blue Bowl concentrator is a shallow, blue plastic bowl that uses a gentle swirl of water to separate fine gold from black sand. You level the bowl, feed a slow stream of water into it, and add classified concentrates a little at a time. The water carries lighter material up and over the rim while fine and flour gold settle to the bottom of the bowl.

It's one of the most popular ways to finish sluice and pan concentrates at home, because it recovers gold too fine to see easily in a pan. For best results, classify your concentrates to a fine mesh first and keep the flow slow and steady. Our Blue Bowl guide walks through setup step by step, and you can find kits and accessories in our Blue Bowl collection.
