AlgoForce E1500 Plus Overview

The AlgoForce E1500 Plus runs AlgoForce's Ultra-Fine pulse induction technology at a 1500 Hz fundamental transmit frequency, which you can adjust. The control box and three-piece carbon fiber shaft weigh under 850 g (1.9 lb) without coil or power bank, and under 2 kg (4.4 lb) with a small coil and battery. The shaft extends to 150 cm (59 inch) and collapses to 59 cm (23 inch) for travel. Power comes from any external 5 V USB power bank with at least 3 A output, at an average draw of 800 mA; AlgoForce gives approximately 10 to 12 hours from a 10,000 mAh bank. The screen is a 2.7 inch black and white LCD, audio comes through a loudspeaker or a 3.5 mm headphone socket, and AlgoForce covers the detector with a 2-year limited parts and labor warranty.

AlgoForce E1500 Plus vs Minelab GOLD MONSTER 2000: Which Should You Buy?

Both detectors are built for gold nuggets in mineralized ground and both show a 0 to 99 target ID. The E1500 Plus is a pulse induction detector that gives its target ID in pinpoint, takes GPX-style mono coils and runs from a USB power bank. The Minelab GOLD MONSTER 2000 runs Minelab's Multi-Au hybrid SMF-PI technology from 12 to 76 kHz, ships ready to hunt with a 5 inch round DD coil and two rechargeable batteries, has an IP55 rainproof control pod with a coil waterproof to 1 m (3.3 ft), and weighs 2.75 lb (1.25 kg) with its battery.

We recommend the E1500 Plus if you already run GPX coils or want to choose your own coil size, and if you want pulse induction for hot ground with more target information than a traditional PI. We recommend the GOLD MONSTER 2000 if you want a complete detector out of the box, a waterproof coil and a small coil for working between rocks.

Key Features in the Field

Detection modes and soil types: AlgoForce calls Ultra-Fine the go-to mode for gold nuggets of all sizes. Fine and Normal reduce the response to mineralized and highly mineralized soil, and Large is reserved for extremely mineralized soil with high levels of wet salt, with three pulse delay options. The Hot soil type is recommended for goldfields and is the only one where ground balance applies; Mild is for extremely low mineralized ground, and Beach rejects seawater signals.

Ground balance: hold the ground balance button and pump the coil for Auto Ground Balance. Firmware V4.0.0 adds tracking ground balance: a short press cycles through Fixed, Tracking Speed 1 and Tracking Speed 2, and Speed 2 follows changing ground faster. On a hillside where the ground changes every few steps, we would run Auto Ground Balance again over clean ground whenever the noise picks up.

Target ID: in pinpoint the screen shows a conductive target ID from 0 to 99, which AlgoForce says stays stable even in highly mineralized soil. Higher numbers generally mean a larger or more conductive target, and a fluctuating number can point to an irregular shape. Small gold, deep targets and difficult ground can still give ambiguous readings, so dig uncertain targets.

User modes: Standard comes with a seven-step quick start and fixes the soil type to Hot; Intermediate opens soil type selection; Advanced gives full control, including the ground mineralization readout and Coil Selection.

Noise and audio: Auto Frequency Scan measures interference and picks the quietest frequency, or you choose from a noise graph. A microphone mixes in ambient sound so you stay aware of your surroundings, and the handle vibrates on targets.

Where the E1500 Plus Works Best and Its Limits

The E1500 Plus is at home on mineralized goldfields, old diggings and open flats where a PI earns its keep. Its limits are practical ones. The control box is not water resistant, so keep it dry. AlgoForce does not recommend DD coils on this detector, and it warns that the shaft may become wobbly with extra-large, heavy coils. Firmware upgrades run only from a Windows PC, and AlgoForce asks for a factory reset after each upgrade. Detection depth depends on the target, the coil, the ground and your settings, and AlgoForce publishes no depth figure.
