Nokta Invenio Pro & Invenio 3D Imaging Metal Detector

The Nokta Invenio and Invenio Pro are VLF metal detectors with 3D imaging: an IPTU sensor tracks the coil's movement and height so the 7 inch screen can draw a buried target's shape, size and depth before you dig. The Invenio runs at 14 kHz with INV28 11 x 7 inch and INV40 15.5 x 14 inch waterproof DD coils; the Invenio Pro adds 5 and 20 kHz, the large INV56 coil and a spare 9500 mAh battery. They suit cache, relic and ground anomaly hunters who want to size up deep targets before digging. Our Nokta Invenio collection holds both detectors plus coils, batteries, chargers, cases and parts.

Nokta Invenio Metal Detector Overview

The Nokta Invenio pairs a VLF detection engine with Nokta's IPTU (Integrated Positional Tracking Unit) sensor and an Embedded Linux control unit with OpenGL graphics. The IPTU sensor computes the coil's right-left and forward-back movement and its height above the ground, and the Invenio combines that with the target signal to draw the target's shape, size and depth on a 7 inch 800 x 480 TFT screen. Nokta says an Artificial Neural Network refines the shape extraction and depth indication. The Invenio has six search modes, three non-motion (Basic, Expert, Ground Anomaly & Cavity) and three motion (All Metal, Fast, Deep), Automatic, Manual and Tracking ground balance, sensitivity from 01 to 99, a 00 to 99 Target ID, iron audio, tone break, notch filter, frequency shift, pinpoint, vibration, a backlight and an LED flashlight. The system box and shaft talk over a 2.4 GHz wireless link. The shaft runs on a 7.4 V 5400 mAh LiPo battery for about 9 hours and the system box on a 7.4 V 5500 mAh LiPo for about 5 hours. The system box weighs 1.7 kg (3.7 lb) with its battery and the shaft and handle 2.4 kg (5.3 lb); the length adjusts from 121 to 152 cm (48 to 60 inch). Menus come in 17 languages, firmware updates over USB from a PC, and Nokta covers the Invenio for 2 years.

Invenio vs. Invenio Pro: Which Should You Buy?

Both share the system box, IPTU sensor, shaft and handle, screen, six search modes, the INV28 11 x 7 inch and INV40 15.5 x 14 inch waterproof DD coils, the IP67 waterproof hard transport case and the 2-year warranty. The Invenio runs at 14 kHz only. The Invenio Pro adds 5 kHz and 20 kHz operating frequencies, the large INV56 waterproof DD coil with its carrying bag, and a spare 7.4 V 9500 mAh system box battery rated about 9 hours, almost twice the run time of the standard system box battery.

We recommend the Invenio Pro for cache and relic hunters who want to change frequency for the site and scan wide, deep areas with the INV56 coil, and for anyone planning long field days. The Invenio suits hunters who will stay at 14 kHz with the two standard coils. If your main goal is finding underground voids and you want a coil for every job, compare both with the Nokta Jeohunter 3D Dual System in the table below.

Nokta Invenio, Best For:

  • Hunters who want 3D target images at a single 14 kHz frequency
  • Cache and relic searches with the INV28 and INV40 coils
  • Ground anomaly and cavity checks with the Ground Anomaly & Cavity mode

Nokta Invenio Pro, Best For:

  • Detectorists who want 5 kHz for larger, high-conductive targets and 20 kHz for smaller ones
  • Wide, deep scans with the INV56 coil
  • Long days in the field on the spare 9500 mAh system box battery
  • Survey-style work where the 3D image decides whether a deep hole is worth digging

Key Features That Matter in the Field

The 3D image is the reason to buy an Invenio. Because the IPTU sensor tracks where the coil is, the Invenio maps the scanned area and shows a target's shape and depth on screen before you dig. The three non-motion modes (Basic, Expert and Ground Anomaly & Cavity) are for slow scanning and imaging, with Ground Anomaly & Cavity aimed at voids and ground anomalies. The three motion modes (All Metal, Fast and Deep) are for swinging the coil like a conventional detector. The wireless link between the system box and the shaft keeps cables off the shaft, and vibration and the LED flashlight help in noise and low light. On the Invenio Pro we recommend 14 kHz as the starting point, 5 kHz for large and high-conductive targets and 20 kHz for smaller, low-conductive targets.

Where the Invenio Works Best and Its Limits

The Nokta Invenio metal detector earns its place on cache hunts, old homesites with deep iron and large copper, and ground anomaly and cavity surveys where target size and depth matter more than speed. It is a heavier, two-part system, with the system box at 1.7 kg (3.7 lb) and the shaft and handle at 2.4 kg (5.3 lb), and 3D scanning is slower than swinging and digging. We do not recommend the Invenio for quick park coin hunting or surf and wet salt sand beaches; for that work a lighter waterproof detector from the metal detectors range is the better choice. We recommend learning one search mode at a time and using the 3D image to confirm a target before committing to a deep dig.

How does the Nokta Invenio show a target in 3D?

The Nokta Invenio shows a target in 3D by combining its target signal with the IPTU (Integrated Positional Tracking Unit) sensor, which tracks the coil's right-left and forward-back movement and its height above the ground. The control unit then draws the target's shape, size and depth on the 7 inch screen, so you can judge a deep signal before you dig.
