Nokta Legend 2 Metal Detector Overview
The Nokta Legend 2 is a simultaneous multi-frequency (SMF) metal detector and the newer of Nokta's two Legend models. In Park and Field mode it runs Multi (M, M1, M2 or M3) or a single 4, 10, 15, 20 or 40 kHz frequency; Beach and Relic mode run Multi only, and Gold mode runs Multi, 20 or 40 kHz. You get five search modes (Park, Field, Beach, Relic, Gold), Target IDs from 01 to 99, 30 sensitivity levels, recovery speed 1 to 10, Iron Filter 1 to 9, notch, Auto, Manual or Tracking ground balance, a 19-channel frequency shift, FerroCheck, three user profiles per mode, vibration, a backlit display and keypad, and an LED flashlight. The whole detector is IP68 waterproof to 5 m (16 ft), weighs 2.6 lb (1.2 kg) with the coil, extends from 25 to 57 inch and runs 8 to 20 hours on its built-in 6700 mAh lithium-ion battery, depending on settings. The box holds the LD28 11 inch and LD21 8 x 5.5 inch DD coils with covers and Bluetooth aptX Low Latency headphones. Nokta covers the Legend 2 with a 3-year warranty.
Legend 2 vs. Legend Pro Pack: Which Should You Buy?
The original Nokta Legend, which we offer as the Legend Pro Pack, shares the Legend 2's frequencies, Multi options, 30 sensitivity levels, recovery speed range, ground balance types and IP68 rating. The Legend 2 moves from 60 to 99 Target IDs, lists Relic mode where the Legend has Beast mode, shows the Target ID in pinpoint, adds a 19-channel frequency shift (13 on the Legend), a keypad backlight, wireless software updates and bone conduction headphone support, and steps up from a 5050 mAh to a 6700 mAh battery. It weighs 2.6 lb (1.2 kg) against the Legend's 3.1 lb (1.4 kg) and uses LD coils; Nokta lists the Legend's LG coils for the original only.
For a new buyer, we recommend the Legend 2 for its finer Target ID scale, Relic mode and lighter build. The Legend Pro Pack makes sense if you already own LG coils, or want a 6 inch coil, wireless headphones and a waterproof spare battery in one box.

Key Features That Matter in the Field
Multi transmits several frequencies at once, and Nokta's manual recommends it in all modes. In Park and Field mode, M1 is more sensitive to high conductors, M2 gives better detection of low conductors, and M3 is meant for damp, wet or conductive soil. In Beach mode, MW is for wet sand and underwater use and MD for dry sand with very low salinity; Nokta says to use MW on dry sand that is salty. Park mode is designed for coins and jewelry in urban parks with modern trash, and Field mode for coins and relics in pasture and plowed fields.
Relic mode is the Legend 2's deep-target mode: it resets the ground balance so deeper targets can be detected, has its own second ground balance setting, and runs without Iron Filter. Gold mode is built for mineralized goldfields. Ground balance runs 00 to 99 in Auto, Manual or Tracking (00 to 20 in Beach mode on MW, and automatic only in Relic mode), and the 19 frequency shift channels help where power lines or other detectors cause noise.
Recovery speed runs 1 to 10, with factory settings of 5 in most modes and 6 in Beach. A lower setting adds depth but makes targets that lie close together harder to separate; a higher setting separates them better, which helps in iron-trashy ground with the LD21. FerroCheck shows the ferrous and non-ferrous ratio of a target on the screen to help flag iron trash. Each mode holds three user profiles, so you can save separate setups for different sites. We recommend starting with the factory settings and changing one setting at a time.
Where the Nokta Legend 2 Works Best and Its Limits
The Legend 2 is at home in parks, plowed fields, old homesites, beaches and shallow water, and Gold mode adds a setup for mineralized gold ground. Nokta's manual says the included Bluetooth headphones are not waterproof, and the wireless link works only while the control box is above water, so use the vibration alert, Nokta's waterproof wired headphones or the bone conduction headphones when the detector goes under. A full charge takes about 5 to 6 hours on a 5V 2A USB adapter, longer from a computer port. We recommend the LD21 for tight spots and iron clusters and the LD28 for open ground. Pair the Legend 2 with a pinpointer for faster recovery. If you want SMF at a lower step in Nokta's range, the Nokta Triple Score runs Multi plus 4, 15 and 20 kHz with a Relic mode and 60 Target IDs.
Coils and Accessories That Fit the Nokta Legend 2
Nokta lists four waterproof DD search coils for the Legend 2: the LD21 8 x 5.5 inch and LD28 11 inch, which both ship in the box, the LD22 9 inch and the LD38 15 x 12 inch. We recommend the LD38 for covering open fields and beaches faster and the LD22 as a middle size. Each LD coil has a matching coil cover in this collection.
