This is the complete XP Deus metal detector kit: remote control, WS4 wireless headphones and the 9-inch X35 coil, all talking to each other over XP's digital radio link with no cables anywhere on the machine. The original Deus is still the lightest full-featured coin and relic detector you can buy, and this configuration gives you both ways to run it. Keep the remote on the stem for the full screen and menu, or leave it in the pack and drive everything from the WS4 headphone puck. If you’re considering an original DEUS or deciding whether to upgrade Deus vs. Deus II comparison walks through the differences.
What the 9" X35 coil does
The X35 coil gives you 35 working frequencies from 3.7 kHz to 27.7 kHz, selected from the remote or the WS4. Low frequencies favor depth on large, high-conductivity targets such as silver coins and brass relics; the top of the range sharpens response on thin gold jewelry and small hammered coins. Between hunts you can shift the frequency a step to get away from power-line interference or a friend's detector, and the Deus hops automatically across 36 radio channels so the wireless link itself stays clean. The 9-inch DD footprint is the one most Deus users end up on for parks, homesites and iron-heavy fields because it separates targets cleanly and swings light. The coil is fully waterproof and carries its own battery. If you want a wider sweep, the 11" X35 and 13x11" X35 pair to the same remote in seconds, or see the same kit with the 11" coil included.
Remote control and WS4: two ways to run the Deus
The remote is the full interface. Its backlit LCD shows target ID, iron probability, frequency and battery status, and it holds every setting the Deus offers: 10 factory programs and 8 user slots, discrimination with notch, multi-tone and full-tone audio, adjustable tone breaks, iron volume, reactivity, sensitivity, audio response, and ground balance in manual, pumping, tracking or beach modes. Pinpointing is available in dynamic mode or four static modes. Clip the remote to the stem, or hip-mount it with the optional hip mount case and protect it with the silicone cover.
The WS4 wireless headphones are a lightweight backphone design with a removable control puck. The puck has its own display and menu, so the WS4 is not just XP Deus headphones; it is a second, smaller controller. Many Deus owners hunt with the remote left at home, which drops the detector to well under two pounds. The puck can also clip to the stem with the optional WS4 stem mount, and the WS4 headphone adapter lets you plug in a wired set of your choice while keeping the wireless link.
Weight, stem and battery
The complete system, coil, stem, remote and WS4, weighs about 900 g (just under 2 lb). Run it headphone-only and it drops to roughly 750 g. The patented S-telescopic stem folds in about five seconds, short enough to fit a daypack, and the coil comes off with a single wing nut. Each component has its own lithium battery: the coil runs about 15 hours, the remote and WS4 about 20 hours each. All three charge at once from the included three-plug USB cable in roughly three hours, from any USB port or the optional XP 110V USB charger. Firmware updates load to the remote and WS4 over the same cable.
Where it fits
The Deus earned its reputation in trashy, iron-infested ground: old homesites, plowed fields, colonial and Civil War camps, where fast recovery speed and clean iron discrimination find the coin next to the nail. It is equally at home in parks and on dry and wet-sand beaches; the coil and lower stem are waterproof, the remote and WS4 are rain-resistant, and the Beach programs handle salt. It is not a purpose-built gold machine; for small nuggets look at the XP ORX with the HF coil. Pair it with the MI-6 pinpointer and its audio comes through the same WS4 headphones. Every configuration we stock is in the XP Deus collection, and as an authorized XP dealer we carry the full range of XP Deus accessories and replacement parts.
