The Minelab EQX 15 is the largest EQX coil, a waterproof 15 x 12 inch elliptical Double-D design for the EQUINOX series, X-TERRA PRO, X-TERRA ELITE and VANQUISH 360, 460 and 560. Minelab describes it as the coil for maximum depth in specialized treasure hunting and for wide ground coverage in open spaces.
Who the EQX 15 is for
Large open fields, expansive beaches and relatively clean ground are where the EQX 15 belongs. Owners who cover wide areas, with targets scattered far apart, get the most from its size. On an EQUINOX 900, it completes the set with the EQX 06 and EQX 11 supplied with the detector.
How we use the EQX 15
We put the EQX 15 on when the ground is broad and targets are few and far between. The larger coil also reads more mineralization and more nearby metal. When the detector gets noisy, perform a Noise Cancel and drop the sensitivity if it still chatters.
Customers often assume the EQX 15 always outdigs the EQX 11. It gives more coverage, and under favorable conditions it can improve the response from certain deeper targets, but in difficult mineralization or dense iron it is not universally deeper.
Key features
- Large 15 x 12 inch (38 x 30 cm) elliptical coil: Minelab's biggest EQX size, made for open ground.
- Double-D design: one winding type across the EQX 06, EQX 11 and EQX 15.
- 660 g (23.3 oz) including skidplate: the heaviest EQX coil, so plan for a little more swing weight.
- Waterproof: beach and wet ground use is within its range, as Minelab lists the coil as waterproof.
- Coil cover included: a protective skidplate guards the coil face.
- 3 year Minelab warranty: the term Minelab lists for EQUINOX, X-TERRA and VANQUISH accessories.
