Minelab EQX 11 11 inch Round DD Waterproof Coil for EQUINOX, X-TERRA, VANQUISH 360/460/560

The Minelab EQX 11 is an 11 inch round Double-D waterproof search coil for the EQUINOX series, X-TERRA PRO, X-TERRA ELITE and VANQUISH 360, 460 and 560. Minelab supplies it as a standard coil on the EQUINOX 900, together with the EQX 06, and describes it as offering good all-round performance for general detecting, with a good balance between sensitivity, weight and ground coverage.

Who the EQX 11 is for

The EQX 11 suits detectorists who want one versatile coil for coins, jewelry, relics and beach hunting. EQUINOX 900 owners who need a replacement or a spare for the 11 inch coil that came with the detector get the same coil. On an X-TERRA PRO, X-TERRA ELITE or VANQUISH 360, 460 or 560, it adds an 11 inch round coil to the elliptical V*X coils those detectors use.

How we use the EQX 11

We treat the EQX 11 as the general-purpose coil. It goes on when the 6 inch EQX 06 is too small to cover ground efficiently and the 15 x 12 inch EQX 15 is more coil than the site needs. After fitting it, start with the detector's recommended search mode and a stable sensitivity setting. Moving to the EQX 11 does not call for aggressive setting changes.

The mistake we see most is assuming any Minelab coil will fit. The EQX 11 is not interchangeable with CTX, MANTICORE or original VANQUISH coils, and it does not fit the original VANQUISH 340, 440 or 540.

Key features

• 11 inch (28 cm) round footprint: the middle size of the three EQX coils, between the EQX 06 and the EQX 15.
• Double-D winding: the winding Minelab uses on all three EQX coils.
• 510 g (18 oz) with skidplate: the weight with the protective skidplate fitted.
• Waterproof: Minelab lists the EQX 11 as a waterproof coil, so wet sand and shallow water are within its range.
• Standard EQUINOX 900 coil: the same 11 inch coil Minelab packs with the EQUINOX 900.
• 3 year Minelab warranty: the EQX 11 falls under Minelab's 3 year cover for EQUINOX, X-TERRA and VANQUISH accessories.

Compatibility

VANQUISH owners, check your model: EQX coils fit the newer VANQUISH 360, 460 and 560. The original VANQUISH 340, 440 and 540 use their own V8, V10 and V12 coils.

• EQUINOX: EQUINOX 600 and 800, plus the EQUINOX 700 and EQUINOX 900. Minelab says the 600 and 800 take all EQX coils and recommends the EQX 06, EQX 11 and EQX 15 for the 700 and 900.
• X-TERRA: X-TERRA PRO and X-TERRA ELITE.
• VANQUISH: VANQUISH 360, VANQUISH 460 and VANQUISH 560.
