Jeff's Story
Jeff B. kicked off his morning with a rewarding beach hunt using his Minelab Vanquish 440. As a part-time detectorist in his first year, he's been learning the machine's tones-especially how heavier coins ring through-and the results really showed.
His top row of finds came from the tide line: coins, small treasures, and even a plated copper earring. While working the beach, Jeff crossed paths with a fellow detectorist swinging a Minelab Excalibur. The conversation turned into an unexpected masterclass-tips on how beaches change over time, where men's and women's rings typically settle, and several new beach spots worth exploring. Jeff described the encounter as a surprise and a huge help.
The right-hand rows of his finds came from a nearby city park. He searched through mulch and sand around an amphitheater, along with a few exercise stations. According to Jeff, whenever he hit a high tone in the 30-34 range on the Vanquish, it turned out to be a quarter nearly every time-usually just barely under the surface.
"All in all, a good day for me," Jeff said. "Still a beginner detecting part-time this past year. Good luck everybody!"
