XP Deus II Version 1.0 Update - New Features & Download Guide

Deus II Update

XP has just released a major firmware update for the XP Deus II, bringing Version 1.0 with significant new features and improvements. This update introduces advanced audio processing, enhanced discrimination capabilities, and better target identification that'll make your detecting sessions more productive.

The new update platform works with PC and MAC systems and is completely free. You'll need Chrome, Edge, Opera, or Brave browsers to access the update system.

Major New Features in Version 1.0

Full Tones Audio System

The biggest addition is the new Full Tones feature, found under DISCRI >EXPERT. This completely changes how you hear targets and gives you much more audio information than the standard tone options.

DISCRIMINATION=TONE BREAK: You can now hear iron and ground mineralization without dropping discrimination to -6.4. The discrimination setting acts as a "tone break," and you control iron volume separately. This is huge for hunting in trashy areas where you want to hear what's around good targets.

OFFSET-FT Setting: This shifts audio frequencies for targets just above your discrimination level, making it easier to distinguish borderline non-ferrous targets from iron. The default setting of 5 works well for most situations, but you can push it to 40 if you want all good targets to sound the same.

Tone Volume Controls: You get individual volume control for 5 different conductivity ranges. If you're primarily hunting silver coins, you can boost the volume for high conductors and reduce it for lower ranges.

Frequency Max Control

The new FREQ MAX setting lets you limit the top frequency in multi-frequency mode to 40kHz, 24kHz, or 14kHz. This isn't just a technical tweak – it has real hunting applications.

Reducing max frequency to 14kHz improves ground stability and iron discrimination. You'll lose some sensitivity to mid-conductors (aluminum foil range), but you'll get better performance in mineralized soil and around iron trash.

For example, Program 1 GENERAL with 14kHz max frequency (4-14kHz spectrum) is excellent for finding silver coins masked by aluminum foil – something that's tough with the full 4-40kHz range.

Audio Filter Enhancement

The new Audio Filter (OPTION > AUDIO) cleans up detector chatter and can add a few centimeters of depth performance when set correctly for your hunting conditions.

On clean beaches or open ground, use higher levels (2-5). In iron-heavy areas, stick with lower levels (0-2) to preserve the audio nuances you need to distinguish ferrous from non-ferrous targets.

Set to 0 to disable the filter completely.

HI-SQUARE Audio Type

This new audio option provides richer harmonic content than standard SQUARE audio. It's particularly effective for identifying deep, quiet targets that might get missed with other audio types.

In Pitch mode, strong surface targets won't overwhelm your hearing as much, letting you focus on deeper signals without constantly adjusting audio levels.

Improved Target Identification

Faster Target ID Updates

Target ID display now updates much faster, so iron target IDs won't linger on the screen when you swing over a good target. This was a real issue when hunting in areas with lots of iron – you'd often see a high ferrous reading even when centered on a coin.

FE T.ID Control

You can now turn off ferrous target ID display completely (OPTION > CONFIG > FE T.ID OFF). In iron-polluted areas, this focuses the display on non-ferrous targets only, even if you keep Iron Volume turned up to hear what's around good targets.

Enhanced Discrimination Features

Improved Silencer

The Silencer now has 8 levels (0-7) instead of the previous on/off setting. This gives you much finer control over how aggressively the detector rejects iffy ferrous targets that display high IDs.

Levels 2-3 work well for most hunting. If you're still getting fooled by iron that reads high, try increasing to levels 4-5, raising discrimination to 8-10, or reducing max frequency to 24kHz or 14kHz.

Updated Default Settings

Program 1-GENERAL now defaults to 2 tones with Big Target ID display mode. Reactivity has been reduced from 2.5 to 2, which improves depth performance on less trashy ground.

The WS6 Master now includes Multi-Notch and Ground menu access, features that were previously only available on the full control unit.

How to Update Your XP Deus II

The update process requires creating an account on XP's new platform. Make sure you're using Chrome, Edge, Opera, or Brave browsers – other browsers won't work with the update system.

The update is free and includes all these new features. Your current program settings will be preserved, but you'll want to explore the new options once the update is complete.

What This Means for XP Metal Detector Users

This update significantly enhances the XP Deus II's capabilities, particularly for hunting in challenging conditions. The Full Tones system and improved discrimination features put it more in line with other high-end multi-frequency detectors.

If you're considering an XP metal detector, these updates show the company's commitment to improving their detectors through software rather than forcing hardware upgrades.
