Fisher F70 Overview for Owners

The Fisher F70 runs at 13 kHz, which Fisher describes as sensitive to small and deep targets, including gold, jewelry and coins, and lists it for coin shooting, relic hunting, gold prospecting, cache hunting and beach and shallow water hunting. It has two modes, Discrimination and Autotune (All Metal), with adjustable discrimination, notch and preset modes, and a 0 to 99 numeric target ID on a large LCD, which also shows target confidence. Audio offers 1 to 4 tones plus a DeltaTone mode, sensitivity adjusts from 1 to 99, and two user-programmable memory slots hold your settings. Ground balance is automatic with GroundGrab. The touchpad pinpoint uses variable pitch and shows depth. The control box is not weatherproof, while the searchcoil is waterproof. The F70 weighs 2.9 lb (1.3 kg), runs about 40 hours on four AA batteries, takes headphones with a 1/4 inch plug and carries a 2-year Fisher warranty.

Coils That Fit the Fisher F70

The F70 and F75 share one coil family, so every coil on this page fits both. The Fisher 11 inch DD Bi-Axial coil covers ground faster on open fields. The Fisher 10 inch black elliptical coil is the stock-size replacement and also fits the Teknetics Patriot. The Fisher 10 inch DD white elliptical coil has a 10 x 5 inch footprint for working between iron and roots. We recommend a DD coil for mineralized or iron-heavy ground and the 10 inch elliptical for cleaner soil. The 11 inch Bi-Axial and the 10 inch stock-size coil are waterproof, which lets you sweep wet grass and shallow water at the coil while the control box stays dry.

Shafts, Parts and the F70 Manual

The Fisher 26.5 inch replacement lower rod fits the F70 as well as the F75 and the F11, F22 and F44. The Anderson 12 inch carbon fiber lower rod is for detectors fitted with an Anderson shaft. Fisher F70 and F75: What Carries Over

For F70 owners moving up, the Fisher we recommend is the F75. Both run at 13 kHz and take the same coils, so an 11 inch DD Bi-Axial or 10 inch coil bought for an F70 also fits an F75. The F75 adds DST to suppress electrical interference, FASTGRAB automatic ground balance with manual override, FeTone adjustable iron audio with four levels, Motion and Static All-Metal modes, a trigger pinpoint and a backlight, at 3.5 lb (1.6 kg) on four AA batteries for about 40 hours. The F75 LTD adds Boost and Cache modes and a 5 inch coil. For a lighter, simpler Fisher, the F44 runs at 7.69 kHz with a weatherproof control box at 2.3 lb (1.04 kg), and for small relics and gold in iron, the F19 runs at 19 kHz with a 40-point iron discrimination scale.
