The Nokta 17000231 is a replacement search coil cover sized for Nokta's 11x7 in (28 x 18 cm) elliptical coils: the IM28 on the Nokta Impact, the INV28 on the Nokta Invenio, and the KR28 made for the original Nokta Makro Kruzer. It fits over the bottom of the coil and takes the scraping from rocks, roots, gravel and concrete so the coil housing does not.
Who this coil cover is for
This cover is for anyone running an 11x7 in IM28, INV28 or KR28 coil whose current cover is cracked, worn through or missing. A coil cover costs a fraction of a replacement coil, and a worn-through cover means the next rock hits the coil itself.
If you own a Nokta Gold Kruzer, this is the wrong part. The Gold Kruzer uses a different coil family, and its covers are listed in the Nokta Gold Kruzer collection. The same goes for other coil sizes on the Impact and Invenio: the small coils and the large 15x14 in coils each take their own cover.
What the cover does in the field
- Takes the wear instead of the coil. Swinging low over gravel, sidewalk edges and rocky ground grinds down whatever touches first. With a cover on, that is a cheap replaceable part rather than the coil housing.
- Lets you scrub the coil close to the ground. Keeping the coil low and level gives the best depth, and a cover means you can do that without worrying about every stone.
- Sized to the coil. Nokta lists this cover at 28 x 18 cm (11x7 in) to match the IM28 and INV28 coils exactly, so it follows the coil's elliptical shape rather than being a generic universal cover.

- Nokta IM28 11x7 in search coil (Nokta Impact, including the Impact Pro Pack's 11x7 in coil)
- Nokta INV28 11x7 in search coil (Nokta Invenio and Invenio Pro)
- Nokta KR28 11x7 in search coil (original Nokta Makro Kruzer)
Does not fit:
- Nokta Gold Kruzer coils
- Small coils for the Impact and Invenio (for example the 7.5x4 in coil in the Impact Pro Pack)
- 15x14 in coils (IM40, INV40, KR40), which use a separate, larger cover
- Nokta Racer and Racer 2 11x7 in coils (RC29 and RC29V), which have their own covers
Where a coil cover matters most
Rocky fields, gravel driveways, sidewalk strips, stream beds and old homesites with brick and stone are where an uncovered coil gets chewed up fastest. On soft lawns a cover still prevents scuffs. After beach, saltwater or muddy hunts, slide the cover off now and then and rinse out the sand and grit that collects between the cover and the coil.
How it differs from other Nokta 11x7 in covers
Nokta made several 11x7 in covers, and they are not interchangeable. This one (17000231) is shaped for the IM28, INV28 and KR28 coils. The Racer and Racer 2 RC29 coils use a different 11x7 in cover, and the 11 in round SP28 style coils use a round cover. Check the coil name printed on your coil before ordering.
