Who the Nokta Invenio Pro suits

The Invenio Pro takes the Invenio imaging platform and adds frequency and coil options: selectable 5, 14 and 20 kHz, plus the large INV56 coil. It makes sense for customers investigating a wider range of target sizes and locations. Like every Invenio, it builds its images from detection data; it does not photograph what is buried. For coins and jewelry in parks we would pick the Nokta Legend Pro Pack or Nokta Legend 2 instead, and the Nokta Gold Kruzer for small natural gold.

How the Invenio Pro builds its images

IPTU sensor: the Integrated Positional Tracking Unit follows the coil's left-right and forward-back movement and its height above the ground. Scan the area in a steady pattern and the system combines the position data with the detector's responses to draw a graphical representation. Technique matters: Nokta says the coil must stay parallel to the ground, with a recommended sensor height of 30 to 50 cm (12 to 20 inch). Uneven movement or coil height will skew the result.

3D imaging: on an old property where records suggest a large metal container is buried, the graphs may suggest its approximate location and dimensions and help you decide where further investigation is justified. The result is a graphical representation built from detector signals, not a photograph or a precise underground map; soil, nearby metal and scanning technique all influence it, and Nokta calls its target IDs probable, estimated values.

Ground Anomaly and Cavity mode: designed to help identify certain ground anomalies, such as a void or disturbed ground. A cavity indication is not proof of a tunnel, a chamber or buried treasure; ground conditions and other factors can produce misleading results. The Invenio is no substitute for a professional geophysical survey or an excavation safety assessment.

About the Nokta Invenio Pro

The shaft and the system box talk to each other over a 2.4 GHz wireless connection, and the system box carries a 7 inch, 800 x 480 TFT screen with a backlight, plus an LED flashlight for the scan area. Nokta says the Artificial Neural Network enables the device to provide superior shape extraction; we read that as better drawings from the detection data, not as identification of what is buried. You can save 3D graphs and screenshots and transfer them to a PC, and vibration can signal a target.

Batteries: the shaft and the system box run on separate batteries. The shaft runs about 9 hours and the system box about 5, and the Pro adds a spare system box battery for extended scanning sessions; capacities and charge times are in the specifications below.

Water: Nokta says not to immerse the device or its accessories in water, except for the search coil and the IPTU sensor, so keep the system box and shaft dry. The waterproof (IP67) hard transport case protects the whole system between sites.

Settings that matter on the Nokta Invenio Pro

Three frequencies: we use 5 kHz for certain larger, higher-conductivity targets, 14 kHz as the balanced general-purpose setting and 20 kHz for smaller or lower-conductivity targets. You select one frequency at a time; the Invenio Pro is not a simultaneous multi-frequency detector.

Sensitivity and modes: learn the three motion modes (All Metal, Fast, Deep) and the three non-motion modes (Basic, Expert, Ground Anomaly and Cavity), and don't assume the highest sensitivity always gives the most reliable result.

Which Invenio Pro coil to use

Nokta's Pro package has three coils, INV28, INV40 and INV56 (sizes in the box list). We use the small coil for detailed searching, the medium coil as the compromise and the largest for coverage and larger targets. Picture a broad historical site where larger buried objects may be present: the INV56 covers more ground and may help on certain larger or deeper targets. It is not the coil for small objects or heavily contaminated ground.

Invenio Pro or Invenio Standard

We would pick the Pro when you specifically need the extra frequency flexibility, the larger INV56 coil and the extended package. For basic Invenio imaging, the Invenio Standard may be sufficient.

One mistake to avoid with the Nokta Invenio Pro

Assuming the extra frequencies let it identify buried gold accurately. No metal detector can reliably determine the composition of every buried object from an image.
