TerraX 12.5 in Plastic Treasure Scoop for Gold Prospecting

The TerraX Plastic Treasure Scoop is a 12.5 in hand scoop molded from hard plastic, with a solid, spoon-shaped bowl and no metal parts. Because the scoop gives no signal of its own, you can pass your detector coil over a loaded scoop to confirm a target is in it before you dump it out. The solid bowl holds water and fine material, so it is suited to prospectors moving gravel and sand into a pan or classifier, and to detectorists recovering small nuggets and coins from loose ground.

This scoop is for gold prospectors and detectorists who want a light, inexpensive recovery tool that does not interfere with a detector. It makes a good first scoop, a spare for the truck or kit bag, or an easy tool to hand to a new prospector.

Where It Works Well and Where It Does Not

• Works well: loose gravel and sand on gravel bars and stream banks, moving material into a gold pan or classifier, and recovering small nuggets and coins from loose soil or dry sand.
• Less suited: hard-packed ground, rocks and cobble, where plastic flexes, and sifting sand in place, since the solid bowl has no holes to let sand drain out.
• Tip: to size the material after scooping, pour it through a screen from our gold classifiers and sifters before panning.

How It Differs from Other TerraX Scoops
