Coiltek NOX Coil Series Review: 10x5, 14x9 & 15" Models

Coiltek Nox Coils

The Coiltek NOX series brings three purpose-built search coils to your Minelab Equinox detector. These aftermarket coils expand your hunting options beyond the stock 11" coil, giving you specialized tools for different terrains and targets.

All three models are fully Minelab approved and plug directly into your Equinox 600, 700, or 800 without any modifications. They're also compatible with the X-TERRA Pro series.

Coiltek 10x5 NOX: Tight Spaces and Target Separation

The 10x5 elliptical coil excels in trashy areas where the stock 11" coil struggles. At just 15 ounces, it's noticeably lighter than the factory coil and reduces arm fatigue during long hunts.

This coil's narrow profile lets you work between tent stakes at campsites or navigate around playground equipment. The smaller footprint also improves target separation in iron-heavy sites like old homesteads.

You'll lose some depth compared to larger coils, but the trade-off is worth it when you're digging multiple targets in tight quarters. The 10x5 really shines in areas that have been heavily hunted with larger coils.

Coiltek 14x9 NOX: Maximum Coverage for Open Areas

The 14x9 elliptical coil covers significantly more ground than the stock coil while maintaining good sensitivity. At 1.94 pounds, it's heavier but the extra coverage makes beach hunting and field work much more efficient.

This coil works best in areas with minimal trash where you can take advantage of the increased sweep width. Parks, beaches, and farm fields are ideal hunting grounds for the 14x9.

The elliptical shape provides better ground coverage than a round coil of similar length, and the DD configuration handles mineralized soil better than a concentric design would.

Coiltek 15" NOX: Deep Seeking Round Coil

The 15" round coil pushes maximum depth while remaining manageable for most detectorists. At 1.84 pounds, it's actually lighter than the 14x9 despite the larger diameter.

This coil excels at finding deep silver coins and relics in low-trash environments. The round shape provides even coverage in all directions, making it ideal for methodical grid searches in open areas.

Beach hunters will appreciate the extra depth on deeper targets, though the larger size makes it less maneuverable in crowded areas.

Waterproof Performance and Build Quality

All three NOX coils handle full submersion to 10 feet, making them suitable for surf hunting and underwater detecting. The cable connections are sealed properly, and we haven't seen any water intrusion issues in field testing.

Each coil includes a pre-installed skid plate, so you don't need to buy additional protection. The build quality matches what you'd expect from Coiltek - solid construction that holds up to regular use.

Which NOX Coil Should You Choose?

Your hunting style determines which coil works best. If you primarily hunt trashy sites like old parks or campsites, the 10x5 will find targets the stock coil misses. For covering large areas quickly, the 14x9 significantly reduces hunting time.

The 15" coil suits detectorists who focus on deep relics and coins in low-trash areas. It's not ideal for beginners due to the size and weight, but experienced hunters will appreciate the extra depth capability.

Compatibility Across Equinox Models

These coils work identically across the entire Equinox line. Whether you're running an Equinox 600, 700, 800, or 900, you'll get the same performance from any NOX coil.

The coils also maintain full functionality with all of the Equinox's built-in modes and settings. You don't lose any detector features when switching to aftermarket coils.

Availability and Ordering

The Coiltek NOX series is coming soon to our inventory. These coils typically sell out quickly due to limited production runs, so getting on the waiting list ensures you'll be notified as soon as they arrive.

Each coil ships with the necessary hardware and documentation. No additional adapters or accessories are required for installation on your Equinox detector.
