The Coiltek 14x9 DD search coil delivers enhanced depth performance and superior target separation for your Minelab Equinox or X-TERRA Pro detector. This professional elliptical coil excels in open fields, beaches, and underwater detecting with its fully waterproof construction.

Key Performance Benefits

Enhanced depth detection - 14x9 elliptical design reaches deeper targets in mineralized soil
Superior pinpointing accuracy - Double-D configuration provides precise target location
Fully waterproof construction - Submersible to 10 feet for beach and shallow water hunting
Excellent ground coverage - Larger sweep area covers more ground per pass
Durable protection - Coil cover protects against rocks and abrasion
Universal compatibility - Works with all Equinox models (600/700/800/900), X-TERRA Pro, and X-TERRA Elite

Ideal Detecting Applications

This coil transforms your Minelab Equinox 800 or other compatible detector into a depth-seeking powerhouse. The elliptical shape provides excellent ground coverage in open fields while maintaining sensitivity to small targets. Beach hunters appreciate the full waterproof rating and corrosion-resistant construction. The DD configuration helps minimize ground mineralization interference, making it perfect for challenging soil conditions.

The larger coil size makes it less suitable for tight spaces or heavy trash areas, but excels in parks, fields, and beaches where depth and coverage matter most. Many detectorists use this as their primary coil for relic hunting and coin shooting in open areas.

How deep is the Coiltek NOX 14x9 waterproof to?

The Coiltek NOX 14x9 is waterproof to 10 ft (3 m) on the Minelab Equinox 600 and 800, and to 16.4 ft (5 m) on the Equinox 700, Equinox 900 and X-TERRA Pro. That tracks each detector's own rating rather than a limit in the coil, so the coil itself is fully submersible on any of them. Rinse it in fresh water after saltwater use. Answered by Dan P. · September 2026

Does the Coiltek NOX 14x9 go deeper than the stock Minelab Equinox 11 in coil?

The Coiltek NOX 14x9 earns its keep on coverage and stability more than on raw depth. Swung with the long axis across your path it sweeps about 14 in per pass against 11 in for the stock EQX coil, and the elliptical Double-D winding stays quiet in mineralized ground. On small shallow targets expect results close to stock; the gain shows on larger targets in open fields and on beaches. It is heavier, so it is not the pick for tight, trashy sites. Compare sizes across our metal detector search coils.

Answered by John W. · September 2026

Can you use the Coiltek NOX 14x9 for saltwater beach detecting?

Yes, the Coiltek NOX 14x9 is suited to saltwater beaches. The coil is fully submersible, and its Double-D winding runs more steadily in wet salt sand and mineralized ground than a concentric or mono coil, which is why it works for surf and shallow water. The 14 x 9 in footprint also covers open sand quickly. Rinse it in fresh water after every session and check the attached skid plate for trapped grit. More water-ready gear is in our waterproof metal detectors collection.
