The Coiltek NOX 18 in is a round Double-D (DD) search coil for Minelab's Multi-IQ detectors: the Equinox 600, 700, 800 and 900, the X-TERRA PRO and ELITE, and the Vanquish 360, 460 and 560. It is the largest and deepest-searching coil in Coiltek's NOX range, built for detectorists who want to cover open ground fast and reach targets below what the stock 11 in coil can see. It is fully submersible and comes with a skid plate attached.
Who the Coiltek NOX 18 in is for
Choose this coil if you hunt big open areas such as plowed fields, pastures, sports fields and wide beaches, and you want maximum coverage and depth for coins, relics and jewelry. It is a second coil for open ground, not an everyday replacement for your stock coil.
If you hunt trashy parks, tight spots or around trees and fences, a smaller coil is the better choice. The Coiltek NOX 15 in and 14x9 are smaller, easier to swing options from the same range, and all are in our Coiltek collection.
Key features
- 18 in round footprint: each swing covers a much wider path than the stock 11 in coil, so you search a field in fewer passes.
- Double-D winding: the DD field stays stable over mineralized soil and wet salt sand, and it gives a wide, even detection pattern across the coil.
- Deepest coil in the NOX range: a larger coil projects a deeper field, which helps on larger and deeper targets that smaller coils miss.
- Fully submersible: suitable for land, beach and underwater use, within your detector's own waterproof rating.
- Skid plate attached: the coil face is protected from the box, so you can fit it and start detecting.
Compatible Minelab detectors
- Minelab Equinox 600, 700, 800 and 900
- Minelab X-TERRA PRO and X-TERRA ELITE
- Minelab Vanquish 360, 460 and 560
The coil plugs straight into these detectors with no adapter. Coiltek does not list the Minelab Manticore or the older Vanquish 340, 440 and 540 as compatible.
Waterproof depth
Coiltek rates the coil as fully submersible to 3 m (10 ft) on the Equinox 600 and 800, and to 5 m (16.5 ft) on the Equinox 700 and 900, the X-TERRA PRO and ELITE, and the Vanquish 360, 460 and 560. The coil can only go as deep as your detector's control box is rated for, so check your detector's waterproof rating before submerging it.
Where the 18 in NOX works well, and where it does not
- Open fields and pastures: the large footprint and depth make it a strong choice for covering acreage and finding deep coins and relics.
- Beaches: the DD design handles wet salt sand, and the wide sweep covers a lot of beach quickly.
- Trashy parks: a large coil sees more targets at once, which makes it harder to separate a good target from nearby trash. Use a smaller coil in heavy trash.
- Long sessions: an 18 in coil puts more weight at the end of the shaft than the stock coil, so a detector harness or arm strap helps on all-day hunts.
How it compares with other Coiltek NOX coils
NOX 15 in: a smaller round DD that is easier to swing over a long day, with less coverage per pass. NOX 14x9: an elliptical DD that fits between obstacles better while still covering more ground than the stock coil. Choose the 18 in when coverage and depth matter most.
