The DetectorPro Gray Ghost Amphibian II for Nokta is a wired, fully submersible over-ear headphone with a waterproof plug made for the headphone port on Nokta Legend and Simplex detectors. DetectorPro rates the headset to 200 ft underwater, and it is built to work just as well on dry land. It suits detectorists who hunt beaches, rivers and lakes and want one wired headset that goes from the field into the water without swapping gear.

Who the Amphibian II for Nokta is for

The Amphibian II is built for Nokta owners who wade, snorkel or dive with their detector, and for land hunters who want a heavy-duty wired headset that shrugs off rain, sweat and mud. If you only hunt dry land with a Nokta Legend 2 or Simplex Ultra, the detector's Bluetooth support may be all you need, and our metal detector headphones collection has wireless options. Bluetooth audio does not carry underwater, so a wired headset like the Amphibian II is the one to use once the detector goes under.

Key features and what they mean in use

    • Submersible to 200 ft (DetectorPro rating): the headset will never be what limits your depth. Every current Nokta detector it fits is rated to 16 ft (5 m), so the detector sets your working depth.
    • Waterproof plug for Nokta: the plug seals into the detector's waterproof headphone port, so you don't need an adapter or a separate dive headset.
    • Heavy-duty 48 in coiled cable: it stretches when you swing and dig, and it pulls back in so it doesn't snag on weeds or your gear in the water.
    • Solid-state speakers: DetectorPro chose them for sensitivity and durability in wet or dry conditions, so the same headset handles a dry field and a soaked surf session.
    • Up to 24 dB of ambient noise reduction: the sound-blocking muffs cut out surf, wind and traffic, which helps you hear faint, deep targets.
    • Increased volume: DetectorPro says the newer internal design raises output over the earlier version, which helps in loud water.
    • Thick, plush polymer cushions with full-ear coverage: they seal around the ear for noise blocking and stay comfortable on long hunts.
    • Fully padded, adjustable headband with no screws or wire frame: there is no metal frame to rust after saltwater use.
    • Foldable design with muff-to-muff cable: the headset folds compact for a beach bag or dive kit.
    • Built in the USA by DetectorPro.

    Nokta compatibility

DetectorPro lists the Amphibian II for Nokta as compatible with the Nokta Legend, Simplex, Kruzer and Anfibio families. Current models with that waterproof headphone port:

Owners of the discontinued Nokta Multi Kruzer, Anfibio series and Simplex+ can also use this headset. It does not fit detectors from other brands. DetectorPro makes separate Amphibian II versions for Minelab, Garrett and XP plugs, all in our DetectorPro collection.

Where the Amphibian II works well and where it does not

The Amphibian II for Nokta is at home in saltwater surf, freshwater swimming areas, rivers and wet-sand beach hunting, where a standard headset would be ruined or a Bluetooth headset would lose its signal. With no metal frame, rinsing it in fresh water after a saltwater hunt is all the care it needs. On dry land it works as an everyday wired headset with strong noise blocking for trashy, noisy parks.

Its limits: the headset is wired, so the cable stays between you and the detector, and you give up the freedom of the Bluetooth headphones the Legend and Simplex Ultra support on land. Your dive depth is capped by the detector's 16 ft (5 m) rating, not by the headset's 200 ft rating. DetectorPro does not publish a weight.

How it compares with other options

Nokta's own waterproof headphones fit the same detectors and are the factory option. The Gray Ghost Amphibian II is the choice if you want a US-built, heavy-duty headset with full-ear cushions and a 200 ft rating that will outlast the detector's depth. If you never take your detector into water, a wireless set from our headphones collection is more convenient on land. For more submersible Nokta machines, see our waterproof metal detectors.

    Warranty

DetectorPro covers the Gray Ghost Amphibian II with a two-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser. The warranty does not transfer to a new owner.

Can I dive to 200 feet with the Gray Ghost Amphibian II on my Nokta detector?

No. The Gray Ghost Amphibian II headset is rated by DetectorPro to 200 ft, but the current Nokta detectors it fits, including the Legend, Legend 2, Simplex Lite, Simplex Ultra and Score series, are rated to 16 ft (5 m). The detector sets your working depth, and the headset will never be the weak point. You can compare depth ratings across our Nokta metal detectors.

My Nokta Legend supports Bluetooth headphones, so why would I need the wired Amphibian II?

You need a wired headset like the Amphibian II as soon as your Nokta Legend goes underwater, because Bluetooth audio does not carry through water. Many Legend owners use Bluetooth on dry land and switch to the Amphibian II for beach, surf and lake hunting, where it plugs into the Legend's waterproof headphone port. See everything that fits the detector in our Nokta Legend collection.

What warranty comes with the Gray Ghost Amphibian II for Nokta?

The Gray Ghost Amphibian II for Nokta has a two-year DetectorPro warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. It covers the original purchaser only and does not transfer. Warranty service goes through DetectorPro with proof of purchase, and we can help you start that process. Browse other models in our DetectorPro collection.
