Garrett MS-3 Z-Lynk Wireless Headphone Kit with WT-1 Transmitter

The Garrett MS-3 Z-Lynk Wireless Headphone Kit (part 1627720) turns a wired metal detector into a wireless one. A WT-1 transmitter plugs into your detector's headphone jack and sends the audio to MS-3 over-ear headphones with a Z-Lynk receiver built in. Garrett rates the audio delay at 17 milliseconds, which it describes as about six times faster than Bluetooth, so the tone you hear stays in step with your swing.

Who This Kit Is For, and Who Needs Only the Headphones

This kit is for detectorists whose detector has a wired headphone output: a standard 1/4 in jack, or the 2-pin connector on Garrett's AT series. Garrett designed the kit for "all types of metal detectors", so it is not limited to Garrett machines. It suits AT owners in particular, such as the Garrett AT Pro and AT Gold, because the 2-pin AT cable is in the box.

If your detector already has Z-Lynk wireless built in, you do not need the transmitter. The Garrett ACE Apex is one example: buy the MS-3 headphones on their own and pair them directly. The same applies to other Garrett models with Z-Lynk built in, such as the AT Max, the Axiom and the Vortex series.

• 17 ms audio delay. Faint and broken signals reach your ears as the coil passes the target, not a beat later, which matters when you are listening for small or deep targets.
• Up to 30 hours per charge. Garrett rates both the MS-3 headphones and the WT-1 transmitter for up to 30 hours, which covers several full days of hunting between charges. A full recharge takes about 5 hours from a standard USB port.
• Volume control on the headphones. Adjust the level at your ear without reaching for the control box.

Compatibility

Where It Works Well and Where It Does Not

The kit is built for land hunting in any weather short of submersion. Garrett rates the WT-1 transmitter IP64, protected against heavy rain, and the MS-3 headphones IP52, protected against light rain. How the Kit Differs From Other Garrett Wireless Options

• MS-3 headphones alone: the same headphones without the WT-1 transmitter or cables. This is the right choice if your detector has Z-Lynk built in.
• Z-Lynk 1/4 in headphone kit: a WT-1 transmitter plus a WR-1 receiver, for detectorists who want to keep their own wired headphones and make them wireless.
