Does the Gold Magic 12E need water or a pump?

No, the Gold Magic 12E does not need a pump, and it does not need water either unless you want clean gold in one pass. Run dry, the spiral wheel concentrates about 140 lb of dry material down to roughly 2 cups for panning later. Run wet, you fill the separation tub until the water reaches the center concentrate cup and the machine works the material down to clean gold, with no hose or pump involved. What is the difference between the Gold Magic 12E and the Gold Magic 12-10?

The difference between the Gold Magic 12E and the Gold Magic 12-10 is the hand crank. Both spiral gold panning machines share the same 12 volt built-in battery and 110 volt charger, take material up to 2 inches, and process about 140 lb an hour wet or dry. The 12-10 adds a crank so it also runs by hand when the battery is flat or you are far from power, and weighs about a pound more at 11 lb. Compare every model in our Gold Magic collection.

Will the Gold Magic 12E recover fine flour gold from black sand?

Yes, the Gold Magic 12E is built to recover fine flour gold from black sand as well as nuggets. The 17 inch spiral pan uses 69 agitation knobs to keep the lighter sand moving off the wheel while the heavier gold rides the spiral into the center cup, and the manufacturer specifies a working angle of about 45 degrees for gold recovery. Run it wet for the cleanest separation from black sand, then rinse the center cup with a light splash of water to finish.
