This is the Minelab Excalibur II 1000 for active and retired U.S. military. Order here and, once your service is verified, we take 15% off the regular price. The detector itself is identical to our standard Minelab Excalibur II 1000: the same sealed unit, 10" coil, battery pod, charger and short diving shaft, with the same warranty.
Who qualifies and how to claim the discount
Active duty, reserve, National Guard and retired members of any U.S. service branch qualify. After you order, send a photo of a driver's license marked "Veteran", or a certificate showing your branch of service and name, to support@seriousdetecting.com or by text to (844) 771-0707. We cannot accept a DD-214, so please do not send one. Once verified we apply the discount and ship; if the unit has already shipped at full price we refund the difference. The same 15% applies to every detector in our military discount collection.
Why the Excalibur II is still the diver's detector
The Excalibur II is the only detector in Minelab's line built to 200 feet (66 m), so it goes where wading machines stop: reef edges, wreck sites and the deep troughs off a beach where rings settle. It runs Minelab's BBS multi-frequency, transmitting 17 frequencies from 1.5 to 25.5 kHz at once, which is what keeps it stable in wet salt sand and black sand without ground balancing. The controls are three knobs (threshold, sensitivity, discrimination) plus a mode switch between Discriminate and Pinpoint, all sized for a gloved hand, and audio comes through the hardwired Koss headphones with no wireless link to lose under water. It is a heavy, analog machine by modern standards at 5.1 lb with the 10" coil, and it has no display, so read our Excalibur II 1000 range for the side-mount shaft and other accessories that make it comfortable for surf wading rather than only diving.
