The Minelab VANQUISH 360 is the entry-level model in Minelab's redesigned Vanquish 60 Series, built on the same Multi-IQ simultaneous multi-frequency platform as detectors costing considerably more. As an authorized Minelab dealer, our team has run the VANQUISH 360 on salt beaches, iron-dense park sites, and freshwater creek beds, and we regard it as the most capable fully waterproof Multi-IQ detector at this price point. The machine carries an IP68 rating to 5 m (16 ft), produces stable target IDs across 119 positions on a -19 to 99 scale, and hunts any terrain without frequency switching, manual ground balance, or mode-specific recalibration. This listing is the standalone detector with coil and USB charging cable; detectorists who want the VANQUISH 360 with Digger, Finds Pouch, and Gloves included can order the Adventure Pack bundle.
Why Detectorists Choose the Minelab VANQUISH 360
- Multi-IQ eliminates the frequency compromise. Single-frequency machines require you to choose between depth on low-conductivity targets and stability in salt sand. Multi-IQ transmits and receives across multiple frequencies simultaneously, so target IDs stay accurate and consistent across mineralized inland soil, iron-laden relic sites, and wet salt beaches without any operator input.
- IP68 waterproofing to 5 m (16 ft) covers the full hunt. The rating applies to the control box, shaft, and coil as a system. We have run this detector chest-deep in surf without a waterproof bag or accessory housing. There is no separate coil rating to check.
- 119 target IDs with six notchable discrimination segments give experienced operators genuine separation. The -19 to 0 ferrous range and 1 to 99 non-ferrous range, divided into six segments, provide enough resolution to separate low-ferrous from high-ferrous and foil-range from nickel-range in most hunt conditions.
- The V10X Double-D coil sweeps efficiently and separates well in trash. The 10" x 7" DD configuration handles both open ground coverage and recovery in iron-dense sites better than a concentric coil of comparable footprint. The coil is IP68 rated to match the rest of the machine.
- 1.16 kg (2.6 lbs) reduces fatigue on all-day water and beach hunts. The weight includes the shaft, arm cup, and coil. Full-day sessions in the surf or along river banks are more productive when the machine is not working against your swing arm.
- Accessories and step-up options are available without replacing the detector. Detectorists who want the Digger, Finds Pouch, and Gloves shipped with the machine can order the VANQUISH 360 Adventure Pack bundle. For wireless audio and expanded tone customization on the same Multi-IQ platform, the VANQUISH 460 is the next step up in the Vanquish 60 Series.

Using the VANQUISH 360 in the Field
Beach and Surf Zone
This is where the IP68 rating earns its place. We run the VANQUISH 360 from dry sand straight through the wet zone and into the surf without adjusting a single setting. Multi-IQ handles salt conductivity correctly, keeping target IDs stable where a single-frequency machine would shift or false in the wet sand. Coin and ring targets in the 30 to 70 ID range read cleanly. For tight recovery in saturated sand, we pair it with a Minelab Pro-Find 35 pinpointer, which carries the same IP68 rating and narrows the dig area significantly.
- Search Mode: Beach
- Sensitivity: 3 or 4 (reduce to 2 in heavy black sand)
- Iron Bias: Fixed High (factory-set, not adjustable on the 360)
- Noise Cancel: Auto
Work parallel to the water line, sweeping through the wet zone to cover both the dry-sand coin layer and the deeper saturated-sand jewelry zone in a single pass.
Parks and High-Trash Sites
In iron-dense parks, the six discrimination segments let us notch the pull-tab and low-foil range while keeping nickel and copper responses open. Fixed Iron Bias reduces ferrous chatter without tuning. Mid-depth coins at 6 to 8 inches read consistently at a comfortable walking sweep speed. Our team consistently finds productive targets in sites that have been worked heavily with single-frequency machines, because Multi-IQ resolves masked targets those machines compress into noise.
- Search Mode: Park
- Sensitivity: 4 (reduce to 3 near power lines or chain-link fencing)
- Iron Bias: Fixed High (factory-set)
- Noise Cancel: Auto
- Discrimination: Notch out segments 1 through 10 if hunting a cleared site where low-range targets are not a priority
In trashy conditions, focus on signal repeatability rather than raw signal strength. Multi-IQ produces more consistent target IDs in mixed iron than single-frequency, which means repeatable targets are worth digging even when signal intensity is moderate.
Freshwater Rivers and Gravel Bars
River hunting in All Metal mode gives a complete signal map of the bottom. We work gravel bars and submerged channel edges where jewelry and coins accumulate after seasonal flow events. The five-level depth indicator helps prioritize targets in deeper water. Collapsed to 79 cm (31 in), the shaft packs flat enough for streamside access hikes where a full-length detector would be impractical.
- Search Mode: All Metal
- Sensitivity: 3 (reduce in turbulent or high-silt conditions)
- Pinpoint Mode: Use for precise recovery hole placement in gravel
- Noise Cancel: Auto
Multi-IQ Technology
Simultaneous Multi-Frequency
Standard single-frequency detectors make a trade-off: low frequencies reach depth and handle high-conductivity targets well but lose sensitivity to small and low-conductivity objects; high frequencies find fine gold and small items but degrade in mineralized ground and salt. Multi-IQ resolves this by transmitting and receiving on multiple frequencies simultaneously. Every sweep over a target produces signal data from the full frequency range at once. The VANQUISH 360 processes the combined return and assigns a target ID that reflects the actual composition of the object rather than the behavior of a single frequency. In practice, target IDs are more stable across changing ground conditions, and targets that shift position or disappear on single-frequency machines routinely read consistently on the 360.
Build Quality and Ergonomics
Shaft, Balance, and Controls
The S-bend shaft uses aluminium and fibreglass sections that extend to 142 cm (56 in) for detecting and collapse to 79 cm (31 in) for transport. Collapsing takes under 30 seconds and requires no tools. At 1.16 kg (2.6 lbs) fully assembled, the balance point sits close to the arm cup, reducing wrist load on long sessions. The arm cup includes a strap. Controls are kept minimal: one button steps through the three search modes, and a second button handles sensitivity and settings adjustments. The monochrome LCD displays target ID number, depth indicator, battery status, sensitivity level, and active search mode simultaneously. The 360 also stores a Custom User Search Profile, so adjusted settings can be saved and recalled across sessions.
Rechargeable Battery
The built-in lithium-ion battery delivers up to 10 hours of continuous use on a single charge. The magnetic USB connector seats securely and charges from any standard USB power source. Our team consistently gets a full hunt day on one overnight charge. Battery level shows on screen, so there is no guesswork mid-session.
Audio
Target Tones, Volume, and Headphone Compatibility
Three target tones map to the conductivity zones of the 119-segment target ID scale: a low tone for ferrous and low-conductivity targets, a mid tone for the mid-range including nickels and mid-conductivity foil, and a high tone for high-conductivity targets such as silver coins and copper. Volume adjusts across five levels from the control box. The built-in speaker is loud enough for open beach conditions. The 3.5 mm headphone jack accepts any standard wired headphone. Wireless audio is not supported on the VANQUISH 360. Our full Vanquish 360 vs 460 vs 560 review and comparison covers exactly where each step up in the series adds tone options and wireless capability.
Coil Options
V10X 10" x 7" Double-D Elliptical (Included)
The V10X ships installed and is IP68 rated to match the rest of the detector. The Double-D configuration maintains stable ground balance across mineralized and salt-affected soil better than a concentric of the same size, and it improves target separation in iron-cluttered environments. The elliptical footprint sweeps efficiently in open sites and fits between cobblestones, roots, and beach debris where a round coil would lose coverage. The coil cover protects the face without measurable sensitivity loss. Optional Minelab coils compatible with the Vanquish range fit the 360 for detectorists who want a smaller coil for dense-trash sites or a larger coil footprint for open field coverage.
