The Minelab VANQUISH 460 bundle with a PRO-FIND 35 and the Adventure Pack combines the VANQUISH 460 detector and its standard Minelab contents with a Minelab PRO-FIND 35 pinpointer (holster, lanyard and 9V battery) and the Minelab Adventure Pack of protective gloves, a durable digging tool and a secure finds pouch. We recommend it to someone who expects to detect regularly and wants an adjustable, waterproof pinpointer with Ferrous Tone ID. The VANQUISH 460 is the middle model in Minelab's VANQUISH 60 Series: a Multi-IQ simultaneous multi-frequency detector, fully waterproof to 5 meters (16 feet), with Park, Field and Beach modes and a User Profile.

This Minelab VANQUISH 460 bundle also includes

    • Minelab PRO-FIND 35 pinpointer with holster, lanyard and 9V battery (Minelab part 3226-0003)
    • Minelab Adventure Pack with protective gloves, a durable digging tool and a secure finds pouch (Minelab part 3011-0497)

Why these add-ons are in this Minelab VANQUISH 460 bundle

Pinpointer: the VANQUISH 460 has a pinpoint function and a 5-level depth indicator that Minelab calls a guide only. In a muddy hole with rusty nails, the PRO-FIND 35's Ferrous Tone ID can help indicate whether the nearby metal is likely ferrous, though it is not definitive identification. We would start at moderate sensitivity and raise it only when necessary, because too much sensitivity makes a small target harder to isolate in a confined hole. Minelab gives the PRO-FIND 35 five sensitivity levels, Ferrous Tone ID and a built-in flashlight and rates it waterproof to 3 meters (10 feet), less than the detector's 5 meters, so keep that in mind in deeper water. Compare the range in our Minelab pinpointers.

Adventure Pack: Minelab describes it as protective gloves, a durable digging tool and a secure finds pouch, the basic gear for getting a target out of the ground and keeping your finds together.

    About the Minelab VANQUISH 460

We see the VANQUISH 460 as the sweet spot for many people entering the hobby. It keeps the 360's approachable operation and adds ground balance with a user-started Auto Ground Balance, adjustable Iron Bias, 30 discrimination segments and Bluetooth LE Audio compatibility: useful controls without unnecessary complexity. We recommend it to many beginners who are serious about staying with the hobby.

Multi-IQ means the detector transmits on multiple frequencies at the same time, and every search mode runs it; Minelab does not publish the individual frequencies. We would not tell anyone the 460 automatically finds more targets than the Minelab VANQUISH 360, because both use Multi-IQ. The differences are mainly adjustment options, target information and included equipment, and we recommend the 460 over the 360 for someone who plans to detect regularly.

Minelab VANQUISH 460 search modes and key settings

    • Park, Field and Beach, plus a User Profile: Park suits general coin hunting in parks and yards, with a lower recovery speed for depth, and Minelab also recommends it for freshwater beaches. Minelab describes Field mode as having enhanced sensitivity to fine metal relics and excellent unmasking of targets among dense ancient iron trash, with a higher recovery speed and a lower Iron Bias. Beach mode gives residual salt a Target ID of 0. The User Profile stores your own version of Park, Field or Beach, and only the User Profile keeps its changes after power-off. An All Metal shortcut switches off discrimination over the current mode.
    • Iron Bias (0, 1, 2): helps the detector classify targets with a mixed ferrous and non-ferrous response, such as rusty bottle caps. Minelab's default is 2 in Park, Beach and the User Profile, and 0 in Field. A higher setting can reject troublesome iron, but with a coin lying right next to a rusty nail, aggressive iron rejection makes the detector less likely to report the coin clearly.
    • Ground balance (-9 to 99): you start Auto Ground Balance yourself by holding the Plus button while pumping the coil over clean ground, and in Beach mode the 460 tracks the ground automatically. Minelab notes that a ground balance should rarely be needed.
    • Discrimination (30 segments): the 119 Target IDs (-19 to 99) are split into 30 segments of four IDs each, and you can accept or reject each segment or reject a target on the spot. A US quarter reads 89.
    • Sensitivity (1 to 10) and noise cancel: the 460 runs an automatic noise cancel across 19 channels at every power-on.
    • Audio and extras: three target tones, volume 1 to 10 and fixed iron volume, plus handgrip vibration, a red display backlight with keypad backlight, and a built-in flashlight.

Beach and water hunting with the Minelab VANQUISH 460

Minelab rates the VANQUISH 460 IP68, submersible to 5 meters (16 feet), so you can search dry sand, wet sand and shallow water at lakes, rivers and ocean beaches within that rating. Multi-IQ and Beach mode help with wet saltwater sand, though severe mineralization, black sand and electrical interference can still affect performance. The wired headphones in the box are not automatically suitable for underwater use; for underwater detecting, Minelab specifies its 3.5 mm waterproof headphones (part 3011-0372), and the headphone socket can be submerged with its dust cap on. Do not take the detector underwater while it is charging or running from a power bank. See our beach metal detectors.

Minelab VANQUISH 460 battery, weight and build

Minelab lists the VANQUISH 460 at 1.16 kg (2.6 lb). The aluminum and fiberglass S-bend shafts extend to 142 cm (56 inches) and collapse to 79.5 cm (31.2 inches). The built-in 3.7 V, 4500 mAh lithium-ion battery gives approximately 10 hours of use, less with the backlight or flashlight on, and takes about 7 hours to charge from flat with a 1 A, 5 V USB charger. You can detect while running from a power bank, but not underwater. For wireless audio, Minelab says the 460 is only compatible with headphones that support Bluetooth LE Audio with the LC3 codec and recommends its ML60 earbuds; standard Bluetooth headphones do not work; wired headphones are in the box. Minelab lists six supported coils: the V8X, V10X, V12X, EQX 06, EQX 11 and EQX 15. See our metal detector coils.

Where the Minelab VANQUISH 460 works well, and where it does not

Parks, yards, fields, old homesites and freshwater beaches are all within its range. Picture an older park where coins are mixed with rusty nails and bottle caps: we would start in Park mode and learn how Iron Bias affects questionable signals. The V10X 10 x 7 inch coil is easier to maneuver around picnic tables, trees and scattered debris than a larger coil. Ocean beaches, including wet sand, are usable in Beach mode, and for regular saltwater beach detecting we would choose a Multi-IQ detector such as the 460 over a single-frequency one. The 460 finds gold jewelry, but there is no gold mode and Minelab does not position it as a prospecting detector; for natural gold, see our gold detectors.

One mistake to avoid with the Minelab VANQUISH 460

The mistake we warn beginners about most is rejecting too many targets. With 30 discrimination segments and three Iron Bias settings it is tempting to reject every questionable signal, but that is how good targets get missed, especially gold jewelry. We would keep discrimination fairly open and learn what Iron Bias does to those signals first.

    Minelab VANQUISH 360, 460 or 560

All three VANQUISH 60 Series detectors use Multi-IQ, and the 360 is also waterproof to 5 meters (16 feet), so the differences are mainly adjustment options, target information and included equipment. Over the 360, the 460 adds Field mode, the User Profile, 30 discrimination segments with accept and reject, ten sensitivity levels, adjustable Iron Bias, ground balance, a backlight, flashlight, vibration and Bluetooth LE Audio. The Minelab VANQUISH 560 adds a fourth Iron Bias setting (-1), five target tones, adjustable iron volume and the larger V12X 12 x 9 inch coil as standard. If you want a larger coil and more detailed audio controls, we would point you to the 560.

Can the Minelab VANQUISH 460 find gold?

Yes, the Minelab VANQUISH 460 can find gold jewelry such as rings and chains. Minelab says Beach mode lets low-conductive targets such as gold chains be detected, and its Target ID scale runs from fine gold at the low end to large silver at the high end. It has no gold mode, and Minelab does not position it as a prospecting detector. For natural gold, see our gold detectors.

Does this Minelab VANQUISH 460 bundle include a pinpointer and digging tools?

Yes, this Minelab VANQUISH 460 bundle includes a pinpointer and digging tools: a Minelab PRO-FIND 35 pinpointer with holster and lanyard, and the Minelab Adventure Pack with protective gloves, a durable digging tool and a secure finds pouch. Minelab rates the PRO-FIND 35 waterproof to 3 m (10 ft). The detector box adds the V10X coil and wired headphones. Compare the others in our Minelab pinpointers.

    Answered by Dan P. · October 2026

What sensitivity setting should I use on the Minelab VANQUISH 460?

The sensitivity setting to use on the Minelab VANQUISH 460 is the highest level that stays reasonably stable where you are hunting. It has 10 levels with a default of 8, and it runs an automatic noise cancel at every power-on. In our experience, near power lines more sensitivity only adds random signals, and a quieter detector makes faint, repeatable targets easier to recognize. See every package in our Minelab VANQUISH 460 collection.
