Why Add the LD38 15 x 12 in Coil

The two stock coils handle parks, yards and general hunting. The LD38 covers what they can't: large, low-trash ground where your limit is how much area you can sweep and how deep the field reaches. A 15 x 12 in DD footprint covers a wider strip on every pass. That matters on a farm permission you only get for one afternoon, or on a storm-cut beach before the tide turns. The larger field also reaches further on bigger, deeper targets like large cents, buttons, buckles and caches. One approach that works well is to grid a clean field with the LD38, then switch to the LD21 when you reach a trashy homesite corner.

Choosing the Right Coil for the Site

• LD38 15 x 12 in: open fields, pastures, wide dry and wet sand beaches, and cache searches. Best coverage and the most depth on larger targets.
• LD28 11 in: the all-around coil for parks, yards and mixed ground. A good balance of depth, target separation and swing weight.
• LD21 8 x 5.5 in: trashy tot lots, iron-heavy homesites, rocky ground and tight spots between roots and fences. Best separation and maneuverability.

Simultaneous Multi-Frequency in Every Search Mode

The Legend 2 transmits several frequencies at once in its three multi-frequency options. It also runs single frequencies of 4, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz when you want to tune for a specific target. Multi-frequency keeps target IDs steadier in wet salt sand and mineralized soil, where single-frequency detectors tend to false or lose depth. Five search modes cover the ground you hunt: Park, Field, Beach, Gold and the new Relic mode. Each mode stores three custom profiles, for 15 saved setups in total. The 99-segment target ID scale (up from 60 on the original Legend) separates mid-conductors more finely, and FerroCheck plus the mineralization indicator help you judge a signal before you dig. Relic Fields and Old Homesites

Relic mode is new on the Legend 2 and is built for iron-littered sites where good targets sit next to nails and plow debris. Use the LD38 to cover the open field quickly, then move to the LD21 near foundations and cellar holes where iron is densest. Beach, Surf and Wet Weather

The Legend 2 is IP68 rated and submersible to 16 ft (5 m). All three coils in this package are waterproof, so the whole kit is ready for surf, rivers and rain. Run the LD38 in Beach mode to sweep wide stretches of dry and wet sand, and switch to a smaller coil around crowded towel lines. Bluetooth does not transmit through water, so the included aptX headphones are for land and shoreline hunting.
