The Nokta LG30 is a 12 x 9 in (30 x 23 cm) waterproof Double-D search coil (part 17000176) made for the original Nokta Legend. It is the coil Nokta ships on the Legend WHP and Legend Pro Pack, so it doubles as a replacement for owners of those packages. The elliptical DD design covers more ground per swing than the Legend's small coils while staying manageable in mixed sites, which makes it the all-round coil for parks, fields and beaches.
Who the Nokta LG30 Is For
The LG30 suits Legend owners who hunt a bit of everything: parks with moderate trash, plowed fields, homestead sites and wet-sand beaches. If your current coil is the 6 in LG15 or the 9.5 x 6 in LG24, the LG30 gives you a wider sweep for open ground. If you own a Legend package that shipped with the LG30, this is the direct replacement for a damaged or lost coil.
Look at a different coil if most of your hunting is in heavy iron or tight spots between roots and rocks. The smaller LG24 and LG15 separate targets better there. For big, low-trash fields where coverage matters most, the 13.5 x 12.5 in LG35 is Nokta's largest Legend coil. If you own a Nokta Legend 2, the LG30 is not listed for it. Nokta makes a separate LD coil series for the Legend 2.
Key Features
- 12 x 9 in (30 x 23 cm) elliptical footprint: covers a wider strip than the LG24 on each swing, while the narrow end still slips between obstacles better than a large round coil.
- Double-D (DD) winding: DD coils hold up well on mineralized ground such as red clay, iron-rich soil and wet salt sand, so you can keep sensitivity up where a concentric coil gets noisy.
- Waterproof coil: wet sand, the surf line, rain and creek crossings are fair game. Your working depth is set by the Legend itself, which Nokta rates IP68, submersible to 16 ft (5 m).
- Runs all of the Legend's frequencies: works with the Legend's multi-frequency modes and its single frequencies of 4, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz, so you keep your usual search modes when you swap coils.
- Coil cover and mounting hardware included: you can fit the LG30 to your Legend's lower shaft and protect the bottom from sand and rock wear straight out of the box.

Where the LG30 Works Well and Where It Does Not
Open fields and relic sites
On plowed fields, pastures and spread-out homestead sites, the LG30 covers ground faster than the Legend's small coils, and the DD design helps keep target ID steady on mineralized farm soils.
Beaches and shallow water
On wet sand and in the surf line, the coil goes under water with the Legend, and the DD winding copes with salt sand. Rinse the coil and connector with fresh water after a saltwater hunt.
Where to choose a different coil
In iron-heavy house sites, schoolyards and dense trash, a 12 x 9 in coil can see a good target and a nail at the same time. The LG24 or LG15 will separate them better. On very large, clean fields, the LG35 covers more ground per swing, at the cost of more weight at the end of the shaft.

- LG30, 12 x 9 in DD: the coil on the Legend WHP and Pro Pack. The all-round size for mixed sites.

- LG24, 9.5 x 6 in DD: a small elliptical for trashy parks and tight spaces.
