The OKM Delta Ranger Professional is a handheld multi-technology detector from OKM in Germany that combines six detection methods in one control unit with three interchangeable probes: two long-range modes for gold, a magnetometer, 3D ground scanning, and two thermal imaging modes for finding voids behind walls and underground. It is built for treasure and relic searchers working large or hard-to-reach areas who want to survey first and dig second, and it ships with the Windows notebook, the Android phone and the software needed to read the scans.
Who the Delta Ranger is for
This is a survey instrument, not a coin-and-jewelry detector. Buy it if you are searching for caches, chests, tunnels, tombs or cellars across old sites, mountainous ground or desert, and you want to map what is under the surface before committing to an excavation. It rewards a methodical operator who will walk grids, keep the probe height steady and read the 3D results on the notebook.
If you want 3D ground scanning in a lighter, lower-cost package without the long-range and thermal modes, look at the OKM Fusion and Rover C4. If you hunt parks, beaches and fields for individual coins and rings, a conventional VLF or multi-frequency detector will serve you far better; see our treasure and relic detectors. For the rest of the OKM range, including the Gepard GPR 3D and eXp series above the Delta Ranger, use the 3D imaging detectors collection.
The six modes and what each is for
- Bionic Stream (long-range probe). OKM's long-range mode for gold that has been buried recently. OKM states it is not affected by wet ground.
- Ionic Stream (long-range probe). Long-range mode for gold that has been in the ground a long time, using the built-in compass to show direction to the signal.
- Magnetometer (ground scan probe). A fast pass to clear surface iron and pick the spot for a 3D scan, so you do not waste a grid on a horseshoe.
- 3D Ground Scan (ground scan probe). Walk a grid and the control unit records a 3D image you analyze on the notebook in Visualizer 3D Studio for position, size and depth. OKM claims detection to 60 ft (18 m) for large targets.
- Thermo Scan (thermo probe). Contactless infrared mapping of temperature differences on a wall or the ground, which shows hidden rooms, corridors and tunnels as warm or cold patterns.
- Thermo Stream (thermo probe). Live false-color thermal view with the camera image, for scanning a wall or cave face in real time.
Numbers that matter
- Control unit 22.6 oz (640 g); probes 3.7 to 5.8 oz (105 to 165 g) each
- Built-in Li-ion battery, about 24 hours per charge, 3.5 hours to recharge over USB-C
- Not waterproof. The control unit and probes are for dry use; only the transport case is waterproof.
- Operating range 23 to 122 F (-5 to 50 C)
- 14 operating languages

Where it works and where it does not
- Large open sites, ruins, caves, desert and mountain ground: this is what it is for. The long-range modes cover ground fast and the 3D scan confirms a spot.
- Behind walls and in buildings: the two thermal modes are built for this, and Thermo Scan works on a wall as well as on the ground.
- Beaches and parks for small finds: wrong tool. It does not discriminate coins from pull tabs and the 3D grid method is far too slow for scattered small targets.
- Rain, surf or wading: not waterproof. Pack it up when the weather turns.
Warranty and support
OKM covers the Delta Ranger with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Serious Detecting is an authorized OKM dealer, and we can help with setup of the notebook and software before you take it into the field.
