The RTG Big 6 is a lightweight aluminum hand scoop for beach metal detecting. Its 6 in diameter bucket moves a big bite of sand, and 5/8 in holes in the sides and back let dry and damp sand sift out fast so your target stays in the scoop. Made in the USA by Reilly's Treasured Gold.

Is the RTG Big 6 for wet or dry sand?

The Big 6 is built for dry and damp sand. It is a short-handle hand scoop, so you use it kneeling or bending, and the 5/8 in holes sift loose sand quickly. For wet sand at the water line or in the surf, a long-handled scoop saves your back, so compare options in our sand scoops for beach and water hunting.

Will small targets fall through the 5/8 in holes?

Rings, coins and most jewelry stay in the scoop. Very small items like earring backs, thin chains or tiny charms can slip through 5/8 in holes, so if you lose a signal after scooping, check the hole with a pinpointer before moving on.

Why choose an aluminum sand scoop over stainless steel?

Aluminum keeps the weight down. The Big 6 weighs about 1 lb, which you notice over a long day on the beach. Stainless steel is heavier but stands up better to rocks, shells and hard-packed sand, so if you hunt rough beaches look at the RTG33 stainless scoop.
