The Serious Detecting Brown Leather Sheath carries your pinpointer and your digging tool on the same belt loop, so both are exactly where your hand expects them when a target signals. It is cut and riveted from full genuine brown leather, sized to fit the pinpointers and hand diggers detectorists actually use, and offered in Left-Sided and Right-Sided versions so you can match it to your dominant hand.
Why a Leather Sheath Beats a Pocket
Most detectorists start out with the pinpointer in a back pocket and the digger tucked under a belt. Both work until the moment they matter. The pinpointer slides out somewhere between the truck and the third hole, and the digger blade finds your leg every time you kneel. A dedicated sheath fixes that permanently: one motion to draw, one motion to return, no looking down, no patting pockets in wet grass while the coil waits.
Leather earns its place here over nylon and plastic. It does not go brittle in cold weather or turn tacky in summer heat, it breathes instead of trapping moisture against an expensive pinpointer, and the pocket molds to your specific tools after a few hunts rather than staying loose forever. The finish darkens into a patina with use, so the sheath ends up looking better in year three than it did in week one.

Key Features
- Two tools, one accessory: a deep sheath pocket for a hand digger plus a dedicated loop for a pinpointer
- Handed design: choose Left-Sided or Right-Sided so the draw follows your natural motion
- Genuine brown leather: thick, field grade hide built for years of digging, kneeling, and weather
- Universal belt fit: the 3 inch belt loop clears standard detecting belts, work belts, and wide leather belts
- Riveted construction: stress points are reinforced with hardware rather than stitching alone
- Fits most popular tools: works with common pinpointer models and standard hand diggers, including Lesche and Quest style blades
Choosing Left-Sided or Right-Sided
Pick the side you dig with, not the side you swing with. Most detectorists swing the detector with one hand and dig with the other, so the sheath should ride on the hip of the hand that reaches for the digger and the pinpointer. If you drop the coil and dig with your right hand, choose Right-Sided. If you dig with your left, choose Left-Sided.
| Option | Left-Sided | Right-Sided |
|---|---|---|
| Worn on | Left hip | Right hip |
| Best for | Left hand diggers | Right hand diggers |
| Digger pocket | Approximately 3 inches wide | Approximately 3 inches wide |
| Pinpointer loop | Approximately 2 inches wide | Approximately 2 inches wide |
| Belt loop | Approximately 3 inches wide | Approximately 3 inches wide |
Serrated hand diggers are also handed. If you are pairing this sheath with a serrated blade, match the blade to the same hand you chose here. Our Lesche digging tools are listed by serration side so the two line up correctly.

Why Buy from Serious Detecting
Serious Detecting builds and sells gear for people who detect hard and often, not for a display shelf. Browse the full Serious Detecting line, round out your rig with metal detector parts and accessories, and reach out any time you need help matching a sheath to the tools you already own.
Note: leather is a natural material. Color, thickness, grain, and rivet style vary from piece to piece, so your sheath may not look identical to the photos. Every one is built to the same construction standard.
