Serious Detecting Right-Hand Leather Sheath with Quest XPointer Land Pinpointer and Diamond Digger Bundle

This bundle pairs a Serious Detecting handmade brown leather belt sheath with the Quest XPointer Land pinpointer and a Quest Diamond Digger, so your two recovery tools ride together on one belt. The XPointer Land is a pulse induction pinpointer that runs on a 9-volt battery; the Diamond Digger is a stainless steel hand digger with a serrated edge on one side. It suits a coin, relic or park hunter who wants a finished recovery kit instead of buying the three pieces separately.

Who this bundle is for

Buy this bundle if you hunt dry land, parks and damp beaches and want a leather sheath rather than nylon. The sheath is built for right-hand carry: it rides on the right hip with the digger handle and pinpointer within reach of the right hand. The serration choice on the digger is separate from that, so a right-handed hunter can pick either blade.

If you wade or dive, this is the wrong pinpointer. The XPointer Land is rain and splash resistant, not submersible. Choosing right or left serration

Pick the Serration Side option before adding to cart. "Right" means the saw-tooth edge is on the right side of the blade when you hold the digger point-down in front of you; "Left" puts it on the left. Most people match it to the hand they dig with so the serrated edge faces the root side of the plug on their natural stroke. There is no performance difference between the two; it is about which edge lands where you want it.

What each piece does

• Serious Detecting leather sheath: hand-cut brown leather, about 14 in long by 4 in wide, with a belt loop and two compartments, one for the digger and one for the pinpointer. Natural leather varies in color and grain, and rivet style can change with availability, so your sheath will not look identical to the photos.
• Quest XPointer Land pinpointer: pulse induction at 95 kHz, which stays quiet when you scrape through mineralized dirt or wet sand. Audio and vibration alert together and quicken as the tip nears the target (Quest calls this RAIT). A 3 in ruler is molded into the probe and an LED lights the bottom of the hole. It weighs 4.7 oz (135 g) without the battery, runs about 8 hours on one 9-volt alkaline, and is splash and heavy-rain resistant.
• Quest Diamond Digger: stainless steel blade about 7 in long and 2 in wide, 11.5 in overall, with a plain sharpened edge on one side for cutting turf and a serrated edge on the other for roots. The curved blade cuts a round plug, and a rubber grip with a hand guard keeps your knuckles off the dirt.

Where it works and where it does not

This kit is at home in parks, fields, woods and dry or damp sand. The pulse induction pinpointer ignores ground minerals and iron-stained soil, so it does not chatter the way a VLF pinpointer can at old homesites. Leather handles rain fine if you let it dry naturally afterward. Do not take the pinpointer into the water, and rinse salt off both tools and the sheath after a beach day; stainless steel resists rust but is not immune to it, and salt stiffens leather.

How it compares to the Quest-only package

We also carry the Quest XPointer Land with Diamond Digger package. It has the same pinpointer, digger, woven holster and Cordura digger pouch as this bundle; what it lacks is the leather sheath. The sheath carries both tools in one piece on the belt and is thicker and longer-wearing than nylon.
