The TerraX 10 in and 14 in Gold Pan Set is two heavy-duty, high-impact flexible plastic gold pans sold together in black or green. The 10 in pan has two ridges and a 2 in depth for sampling. The 14 in pan has three riffles, a water guide and a 2-5/8 in depth for working larger amounts of material. It suits beginners who want both sizes from the start, and prospectors who want a sampling pan and a production pan in one order.
Who the TerraX 10 in and 14 in set is for
This set fits creek and river prospectors, recreational panners at public panning areas, and anyone working concentrates from a sluice or a paydirt bag. If you want a pan with separate shallow and deep riffle sections, TerraX makes dual riffle pans in 8 in, 10 in and 14 in sizes, which you'll find in our gold pans and panning kits collection. If you would rather not pan by hand at all, look at our gold wheels and spiral panning machines.
Key features and what they mean in use
- Two sizes in one set: the 10 in pan holds a small load, so you can test a spot quickly. The 14 in pan takes more material per pan once you find color.
- Two ridges on the 10 in pan, three riffles on the 14 in pan: TerraX designed the ridges to trap fine gold, so heavy particles catch on the ridges as you wash off the lighter material.
- Water guide on the 14 in pan: a molded feature TerraX includes on the larger pan only.
- Heavy-duty, high-impact flexible plastic: TerraX states that plastic will not rust or corrode and weighs much less than a metal pan, which helps on long walks to the creek.
- Black or green: TerraX says the color stays true in a plastic pan, so gold flakes are easier to spot against it. Black and green are the two colors we carry for this set.
What is in the set
- One TerraX 10 in plastic gold pan: 10 in diameter, 2 in deep, two ridges
- One TerraX 14 in plastic gold pan: 14 in diameter, 2-5/8 in deep, three riffles, water guide
Both pans in a set come in the color you choose. No classifier, snuffer bottle or vials are included.
What works with these pans
A pan works fastest when the material has been screened first. A classifier from our gold classifiers and sifters collection removes rocks and gravel before you pan, and a snuffer bottle and glass vials collect and store what is left at the end. Other tools in the TerraX line, including sluice boxes, are in our TerraX prospecting tools collection.
Where the TerraX pans work well and where they do not
The TerraX 10 in and 14 in pans work best in moving or standing water where you can submerge the pan, from mountain creeks to a tub of water at home for concentrates. Plastic does not rust, so the pans can stay wet in a gear bucket between trips.
Limits: a 14 in pan full of wet gravel gets heavy, and newer panners often find the 10 in pan easier to control at first. Plastic pans are not meant to be heated, so dry concentrates some other way. For large volumes of material a sluice box moves gravel faster than any pan, and the pans then become your cleanup tools.
How the set compares with buying single pans
The set includes the same 10 in two-ridge pan and 14 in three-riffle water guide pan that TerraX also sells separately. Buy the set if you want both sizes. Buy a single pan if you only need a sampling pan or only need a larger production pan. The TerraX dual riffle pans differ: each has a shallow riffle side and a deep riffle side on one pan.

The TerraX Gold Pan Set gives you two essential sizes for any gold prospecting trip — a 10" pan for testing deposits and a larger 14" pan for processing bulk material efficiently.
Key Features
- Two versatile sizes: 10" pan with 2 ridges for fine work, 14" pan with 3 ridges plus water guide for bulk processing
- Superior gold retention: Strategic ridge design traps fine gold particles like a sluice box
- Lightweight construction: Heavy-duty plastic weighs significantly less than metal pans for easier transport
- Rust-proof durability: Impact-resistant plastic won't corrode in wet conditions
- High contrast visibility: Black or green color makes gold flakes stand out during panning
- Professional depth: 2" depth on 10" pan, 2-⅝" depth on 14" pan for proper material classification
Why Plastic Beats Metal for Gold Panning
These plastic gold pans solve the main problems prospectors face with traditional metal pans. You won't deal with rust or corrosion, even after repeated exposure to water and minerals. The consistent color helps you spot gold flakes immediately — no guessing if that glint is gold or just pan reflection.
The ridge system works better than smooth metal pans too. Fine gold settles into the grooves during the swirling process, so you're less likely to lose particles when separating black sand. It's like having the capturing power of a sluice box in a portable pan.
Complete Gold Panning Tools
This two-pan combination covers most prospecting scenarios. Use the 10" pan for sampling potential spots — it's perfect for testing creek bends or checking if an area has color. When you find promising ground, switch to the 14" pan with its water guide feature for faster processing of larger amounts of material.
Both pans work well with other gold prospecting equipment like classifiers and snuffer bottles. The flexible plastic construction handles rocky creek beds without cracking, and cleanup is simple with just soap and water.
