Waterproof to 5 m, the M15 is just as capable in the surf and shallow water as it is across dry sand. On wide, open beach sites that have not been worked to exhaustion, the coverage advantage lets you cover productive stretches faster than a smaller coil allows. Beach Mode handles saltwater ground balance automatically. If you move into a section with heavier iron or tighter target spacing, the M9 is the right tool for that transition.
