The Minelab M9 is the 9 inch round Double-D search coil for the Minelab Manticore. Part number 3011-0473. Minelab calls it the lightest Manticore coil, and its low profile makes it easy to sweep through water.
Who the M9 is for
The M9 suits Manticore owners who want a compact coil without moving all the way down to the narrow M8. It sits between the M8 and the M11: the round shape is convenient for general detecting, and the smaller size makes it easier to work around obstacles than the standard M11.
How we use the M9
We suggest the M9 to owners who find the M11 cumbersome in moderately cluttered sites but still want a general purpose coil. After fitting it, recheck Noise Cancel and Ground Balance where appropriate. Do not assume the previous coil's sensitivity setting will be equally stable on the M9.
The mistake we see most is treating the M9 as a round version of the M8. The two coils have different dimensions and shapes, and they handle differently.
Key features
- 9 inch round footprint: more compact than the 11 inch M11, with a round shape for general detecting.
- Double-D winding: the winding Minelab uses on all four Manticore coils.
- Waterproof to 5 m (16 ft): Minelab's rating for the M9, the same as the Manticore detector.
- 366 g (0.81 lb) with skidplate: the weight of the coil with its protective skidplate fitted.
- 3 year Minelab warranty: Minelab covers Manticore accessories for 3 years.
