Why the Second Coil Changes How You Hunt

Most detectorists buy a second coil and then leave it in the truck, because swapping a coil in the field means pulling hardware, threading a washer stack and rebalancing the machine. The spare lower shaft assembly in this bundle removes that friction. The M9 9 in round DD coil lives on its own shaft, so changing coils is one pin and thirty seconds.

When We Run the M11

Open parks, sports fields, plowed farmland and dry beach. The 11 in coil covers ground efficiently and holds target ID stability at depth, which is where the Manticore pulls away from the EQUINOX series. If you are hunting acreage and want passes to count, the M11 stays on.

Cellar holes, old home sites, foundation edges and anywhere iron density climbs. The smaller footprint tightens the search field so two targets 4 in apart read as two targets instead of one smeared signal. It is also the coil we grab for rocky ground and tight work around tree lines and fence rows, where a large coil is fighting the terrain as much as the trash.

What the Manticore Brings to the Ground

Multi-IQ+

Multi-IQ+ broadcasts 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz simultaneously and runs up to 50 percent more transmit power than the EQUINOX series. Low frequencies see deep high conductors, high frequencies light up small gold and low conductors, and the Manticore reads all of them at once rather than trading one for the other.

The 2D Target ID Map

A single number collapses ferrous and conductive data together. The Manticore plots them on two axes, 100 conductive segments against 50 ferrous segments, so a bent nail and a silver dime that share a conductivity reading land in completely different places on the display. In iron heavy ground that second axis is the difference between digging with information and digging on faith.

Fully Waterproof

IP68 to 5 m (16 ft) means wading, surf and shallow diving are all fair game. The Beach Surf and Seawater modes handle wet salt sand without the falsing that single frequency machines produce there.

The PRO-FIND 40 in Practice

The PRO-FIND 40 is Minelab's current top pinpointer and a real upgrade over the PRO-FIND 20 if you have used one. Ferrous Tone ID gives you a dual tone response, so you know whether the target in the plug is a nail before you widen the hole. That alone saves a lot of digging in relic ground.
