What the AccuPOINT adds to this Nokta Legend Pro Pack bundle
The main advantage of a Legend kit is convenience: useful accessories arrive together instead of being bought one at a time. Picture your first serious detector and your first coin in a park; without a pinpointer, finding it in the hole efficiently can be frustrating. The pinpointer makes recovery easier; it does not change the Legend's frequencies, target IDs or 5 meter (16 foot) waterproof rating. The box list above shows exactly what comes with this kit.
Nokta AccuPOINT pinpointer: the Legend's pinpoint narrows down where to dig; once the hole is open, a handheld pinpointer finds the target in loose soil faster. The AccuPOINT works at 20 kHz with 1-tone, 2-tone and Iron-Off modes, nine sensitivity levels and a lost alarm after 5 minutes, and its rechargeable 1650 mAh battery runs about 25 hours. Nokta rates the AccuPOINT IP68, waterproof to 3 meters (10 feet) with its back cover fully tightened, and rates the detector separately to 5 meters (16 feet). Nokta covers the AccuPOINT with a 2-year warranty. See our Nokta pinpointers.
About the Nokta Legend Pro Pack
The Legend (Nokta's name for the original model) is a simultaneous multi-frequency (SMF) detector for coins, jewelry, relics, beaches and gold ground. It is waterproof and has adjustable recovery speed, ground balancing and detailed audio controls. What we appreciate most is how much practical detecting capability Nokta put into a relatively affordable machine, and how versatile it is: one detector covers parks, fields, freshwater, saltwater beaches and some natural-gold prospecting. We recommend it to intermediate and experienced detectorists who want one detector for several environments and extensive adjustment without moving into the most expensive detector category. Picture someone who searches older parks all year, among coins, nails and aluminum trash, then spends a summer vacation hunting jewelry in wet saltwater sand. The Legend's simultaneous multi-frequency operation and dedicated search modes suit both.
What we like about the Pro Pack in particular is that it gives you two complementary coils from the start: the LG30 12 x 9 inch for open ground and the LG15 6 inch for heavily contaminated sites. We recommend it to detectorists who expect to hunt regularly and want that flexibility without buying another coil later, coin and relic hunters searching different environments especially.
Nokta Legend Pro Pack search modes and key settings
- Search modes: Park for coins and jewelry in urban areas and parks, Field for coins and relics in pastures and plowed fields, Beach for dry or wet sand and underwater, and Gold Field for mineralized goldfields. Press the frequency button in Gold Field to reach Beast mode, which Nokta says detects targets at depths the other modes cannot reach; targets at fringe depth may give no ID or an unstable one. The Legend starts in Park mode on Multi frequency. We would learn the differences between Park and Field before changing advanced settings, use Beach on saltwater, and treat Gold Field as a natural-gold mode that does not replace a specialized pulse induction detector in severe mineralization.
- Multi options and single frequencies: M1 is more sensitive to higher conductors, M2 detects lower conductors better, and M3 suits humid, wet or conductive soil, where it reduces false signals and weakens the response to coke and foil. Park and Field also run single frequencies of 4, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz. Beach runs Multi only, as MW for wet sand and underwater or MD for dry sand with very low salinity, and Gold Field runs Multi, 20 or 40 kHz.
- Recovery speed (1 to 10): a faster setting can help in dense trash, and a slower one may favor some deeper targets in cleaner ground. We set it by target density rather than reaching for the fastest setting.
- Iron handling: Iron Filter runs 0 to 9 in Park, Field and Gold Field and 1 to 9 in Beach, and FerroCheck shows the ferrous to non-ferrous ratio of a target as a graphic, which works best on shallow targets with a strong signal. We treat FerroCheck as supporting target information, not a definitive identification. Raising recovery speed and iron filtering does not improve separation for free: aggressive settings can reduce useful responses from some deeper or partly masked targets.
- Audio: 1, 2, 4, 6 or 60 tones or Tone Pitch, with tone volume, tone frequency, tone break and threshold adjustments, and an audio frequency range of 100 to 1200 Hz.
- Ground balance, sensitivity and noise: Automatic, Manual and Tracking ground balance, 30 sensitivity levels and 13 frequency shift channels, set by hand or automatically. Nokta says the Legend works without ground balancing on most ground, and that balancing adds depth and stability on highly mineralized ground. We would learn all three ground balance options, recheck the balance after changing coils or moving to different ground, and use frequency shift for noise cancellation when electromagnetic interference makes the detector unstable.
- Target ID and profiles: 01 to 60 target IDs, a 5-level depth indicator calibrated on a 1 inch coin, notch filter, pinpoint, and 4 user profiles that store your settings for every mode.
Beach and water hunting with the Nokta Legend Pro Pack
Nokta rates the Legend IP68, waterproof to 5 meters (16 feet) and protected from dust, and its LG coils are waterproof DD coils. On saltwater, Beach mode is the one we would use. Not every part of the package goes underwater: Nokta's manual says the Bluetooth headphones are not waterproof, and the wireless link works only while the system box stays above water. For submerged hunting Nokta recommends its own waterproof headphones, and the vibration alert also signals a target. Keep the headphone and charging socket closed with its screw cap, and rinse the system box, shaft and coil with tap water after salt water. See our beach metal detectors.
Where the Nokta Legend Pro Pack works well, and where it does not
Coin hunting, relic hunting, parks, freshwater, saltwater beaches and some natural-gold prospecting all suit the Legend. The Pro Pack's two coils show their value over a weekend: on Saturday, an old farmhouse site with rusty nails and tightly spaced targets calls for the LG15 6 inch coil; on Sunday, a large open park calls for the LG30 12 x 9 inch coil and its broader coverage. See more relic and treasure metal detectors.
Where the Legend is the wrong tool: if your only goal is tiny natural gold in highly mineralized ground, or natural-gold prospecting is your main priority, we would look at the high-frequency Nokta Gold Kruzer instead.
Nokta Legend Pro Pack coils, battery and build
The Pro Pack has two coils from Nokta's LG series. The LG15 6 inch coil is the one we use in dense iron, around obstacles and in confined spots; the LG30 12 x 9 inch coil is a sensible general-purpose coil for parks, fields and beaches. Coil choice changes how targets respond, so it pays to learn both. Nokta also lists the LG24 9.5 x 6 inch, LG28 11 inch and LG35 13.5 x 12.5 inch waterproof DD coils for the Legend.
Nokta's manual lists the Legend at 1.4 kg (3.0 lb) including the search coil, with a shaft adjusting from 63 to 132 cm (25 to 52 inches). The built-in 5050 mAh lithium polymer battery runs 8 to 20 hours depending on frequency, audio output, backlight and flashlight, and charges in about 3 to 4 hours from a USB adapter rated at least 5 V 2 A; only Nokta or an authorized service center replaces it. The Pro Pack adds Nokta's waterproof replaceable spare battery with its own charger, for the day the internal battery runs empty with no way to charge. With the spare battery attached you cannot plug in wired headphones, and if you remove the battery from its housing, keep the detector out of rain and water. The custom LCD has an adjustable backlight, there is an LED flashlight for dark locations, and the Bluetooth link supports aptX Low Latency headphones.
One mistake to avoid with the Nokta Legend Pro Pack
Assuming the larger coil is always better. The LG30 12 x 9 inch coil covers more ground, but in dense iron the LG15 6 inch coil can make closely spaced responses easier to investigate.
Nokta Legend Pro Pack compared with the Nokta Legend 2
The Nokta Legend 2 is Nokta's newer model on the same idea. Nokta's comparison chart lists 99 target IDs instead of 60, the target ID shown in pinpoint, 19 manual frequency shift channels instead of 13, a 6700 mAh lithium-ion battery with a charge LED in place of 5050 mAh lithium polymer, Relic mode in place of Beast mode, a backlit membrane keypad instead of rubber keys, and support for bone conduction headphones. The Legend 2 uses LD coils, and Nokta does not list the Legend's LG coils for it. If you want the newest Legend platform, we would look at the Legend 2.
Our recommendation on the Nokta Legend Pro Pack
We recommend the original Legend for versatile simultaneous multi-frequency detecting with extensive controls at a competitive price, and the Pro Pack for having both a general-purpose coil and a small trash-site coil from the start.
