Nokta SC30 & LG30 12 x 9 in Search Coil Cover for Legend & Score

The Nokta SC30 & LG30 Search Coil Cover (part 17000261) is the factory replacement cover for Nokta's 30 x 23 cm (12 x 9 in) elliptical coils: the LG30 used on the Nokta Legend, and the SC30 used on the Nokta Score, Double Score and Triple Score. It fits over the bottom of the coil and takes the scrapes from rocks, roots, gravel and sand, so the coil housing does not. Buy it when the cover that came with your coil is worn thin, cracked or lost.

Who this coil cover is for

This cover is for Nokta Legend owners running the LG30 12 x 9 in coil (standard on the Legend WHP and Pro Pack) and Score, Double Score and Triple Score owners running the SC30 12 x 9 in coil, which is standard on all three Score models. It is also worth having as a spare if you hunt rocky creek beds, gravel parking areas or beaches, where covers wear fastest.

It is the wrong cover if your coil is a different size. The LG24/SC24, LG35/SC35, LG15 and LG28 coils each have their own Nokta cover. The Nokta Legend 2 uses a separate LD coil series with its own covers.

What the cover does in use

• Takes the wear instead of the coil: scrubbing the coil across the ground is part of good technique, and the cover is the part that wears. A worn cover is cheap to replace. A worn-through coil shell is not.
• Molded to the 12 x 9 in coil: made for the shape of Nokta's 30 x 23 cm coils, so it stays on through a full day of swinging.
• One cover, two coil lines: because the LG30 and SC30 share the same size, a household with both a Legend and a Score can keep one spare cover for both.

Care and limits

A coil cover is not a waterproof seal. Water, sand and fine grit work their way between the cover and the coil, especially on the beach and in streams. After a beach or water hunt, pull the cover off, rinse the coil and the cover in fresh water, and let both dry before refitting. Trapped sand can grind against the coil and can also cause false signals. Replace the cover once it is worn thin or split, before the coil underneath starts to wear.
