The Nokta Legend 2 with a Nokta AccuPOINT pinpointer suits experienced detectorists who want a versatile simultaneous multi-frequency detector with real control over target responses for coins, relics, heavily hunted parks and beaches. The AccuPOINT takes over once the hole is open, so recoveries go faster from the first outing. Nokta's Legend 2 box holds the LD28 11 inch and LD21 8 x 5.5 inch coils and Bluetooth aptX Low Latency headphones, and the detector is waterproof to 5 meters (16 feet).

What the add-ons in this Nokta Legend 2 bundle do
Nokta AccuPOINT pinpointer: the Legend 2 pinpoint narrows down where to dig; once the hole is open, a handheld pinpointer finds the target in loose soil faster. The AccuPOINT works at 20 kHz with 1-tone, 2-tone and Iron-Off modes, nine sensitivity levels and a lost alarm after 5 minutes, and its rechargeable 1650 mAh battery runs about 25 hours. Nokta rates the AccuPOINT IP68, waterproof to 3 meters (10 feet) with its back cover fully tightened, and rates the detector separately to 5 meters (16 feet). Nokta covers the AccuPOINT with a 2-year warranty. See our Nokta pinpointers.
About the Nokta Legend 2
What makes the Nokta Legend 2 interesting is the amount of control it gives someone who wants to take metal detecting beyond basic coin hunting. Nokta designed it as an advanced simultaneous multi-frequency (SMF) detector for coins, jewelry, relics and beach hunting, and many experienced detectorists search an older park during the week, an abandoned farmstead on Saturday and a freshwater beach on Sunday. The Legend 2 lets you adjust how the detector responds to each of those places rather than relying entirely on factory settings.
We would not recommend it simply because it is newer. Someone who searches clean parks a few times a year may never need all its adjustments, and the Nokta Score or Nokta Double Score could be the better fit. The Nokta Triple Score Pro Pack brings simultaneous multi-frequency, a Relic mode, adjustable recovery speed and detailed audio without every Legend 2 adjustment. SMF itself gives a versatile starting point for a park holding modern coins, older silver, small gold jewelry, aluminum trash and rusty iron, without constantly changing frequencies, but it does not automatically identify targets correctly or guarantee more depth.
Nokta Legend 2 search modes and key settings
- Five search modes: Park for coins and jewelry among modern trash, Field for coins and relics in pastures and plowed fields, Beach for dry sand, wet sand and underwater, Relic, which Nokta says detects targets at depths the other modes cannot (targets at that limit may give an unstable ID), and Gold, optimized for mineralized goldfields.
- Multi options and single frequencies: M1 favors high conductors, M2 low conductors and M3 damp, wet or conductive soil, where it also weakens the response to coke and foil. Park and Field add single frequencies of 4, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz. Beach runs MW (wet or salty sand, underwater) or MD (dry sand with very low salinity), Relic runs Multi only and Gold runs Multi, 20 or 40 kHz.
- Recovery speed (1 to 10): faster can help separate closely spaced signals near a foundation crowded with nails; slower in a clean field may preserve stronger responses from deeper targets. We would not use the fastest setting everywhere.
- Iron handling: Iron Filter 1 to 9, Iron Rejection 0 to 5 in Relic, Bottle Cap Rejection 0 to 8 and FerroCheck, a ferrous to non-ferrous bar graph that works best on shallow targets. A coin next to a rusty nail can give a combined response, and aggressive rejection raises the risk of overlooking it, so on iron-heavy sites we would try less aggressive settings, even if you dig more iron.
- Audio: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 99 tones or Tone Pitch, plus threshold, tone volume and tone break. No tone automatically identifies coins or jewelry; we would begin with the factory audio and try more as experience grows.
- Ground balance, sensitivity and noise: Automatic, Manual and Tracking ground balance, 30 sensitivity levels and 19 frequency shift channels with automatic noise cancel. Severe mineralization and hot rocks can still make detecting difficult. Near interference, run the noise cancel first, then set sensitivity where the detector runs reasonably quietly.
- Target ID and profiles: 01 to 99 target IDs, the ID shown in pinpoint, a 5-level depth indicator, Deep Target ID for deep non-ferrous targets that read as iron, and 15 user profiles, three per search mode. A target ID is a clue, not a definitive identification: a gold ring can read like aluminum trash, so we would combine it with audio and signal repeatability.
Beach and water hunting with the Nokta Legend 2
Nokta rates the Legend 2 IP68, fully submersible to 5 meters (16 feet), and its LD coils are waterproof DD coils. Beach mode warns you about black sand, and wet salt sand can still affect stability, so we would begin with Nokta's Beach mode settings and adjust only when conditions require it. Not every part of the package goes underwater: Nokta's manual says the Bluetooth headphones are not waterproof, and the wireless link stops once the system box is submerged. Nokta makes its own waterproof headphones for land and underwater use, and the vibration alert works underwater. Keep the headphone and charging socket closed with its screw cap, and rinse the system box, shaft and coil with tap water after salt water. See our beach metal detectors.
Where the Nokta Legend 2 works well, and where it does not
Coin hunting, relic hunting, heavily hunted parks, and freshwater and saltwater beaches all suit the Legend 2. On the remains of an old farmhouse, with hundreds of rusty nails and a good relic a few inches from one, recovery speed and iron handling let you experiment with closely spaced targets, but iron masking remains a limitation and the Legend 2 cannot reliably see through every nail. See more relic and treasure metal detectors. For jewelry on a swimming beach, we would run fairly open discrimination and investigate more repeatable signals, because some gold jewelry responds like pull tabs and foil.
Nokta Legend 2 coils, battery and build
On large open fields the LD28 11 inch coil provides useful ground coverage; around old homesites with nails and rocks the smaller LD21 8 x 5.5 inch coil has a narrower footprint that makes closely spaced targets easier to isolate. Neither is universally better. Nokta lists the Legend 2 at 1.2 kg (2.6 lb) including the search coil, with a shaft adjusting from 63 to 145 cm (25 to 57 inches). The built-in 6700 mAh lithium-ion battery runs 8 to 20 hours depending on settings and charges in about 5 to 6 hours from a USB adapter rated at least 5 V 2 A; only Nokta or an authorized service center replaces it.
One mistake to avoid with the Nokta Legend 2
Copying advanced settings from someone else's video is the mistake we would warn about: ground, target types, iron and technique differ from site to site. Begin with the factory programs, learn how the detector responds, then change one setting at a time.
