The Gold Cube 4 Stack Deluxe Kit with Gold Trommel is for prospectors who are tired of losing half the day to a classifier bucket. You feed raw dirt into the trommel on top, it screens and washes the material on the way through, and the sluice concentrator below takes what falls out. One person can keep it fed continuously instead of trading off between screening and running.

The 4 Stack is the four-tray configuration: one slick plate and three separator trays. That extra tray over the 3 Stack exists for flat gold. Very flat gold, what prospectors call glitter gold, drifts over the riffles of a conventional sluice because water surface tension lets it ride. The Gold Cube forces everything under a gate and below the water line, which breaks that tension and drops the gold into an axial trough. The flatter your gold, the more separation stages you want working on it.

Is the 4 Stack Right for Your Ground, or Is It More Than You Need?

Three cases where something else is the better buy. If your claim sits close to the source and produces chunky, rounded gold, the extra tray is not earning its keep and the 3 Stack Deluxe with the same trommel saves you money for the same workflow. If you already own a Gold Cube, do not buy a second one: the trommel is sold on its own and retrofits to the machine you have. And if you want to process at the water's edge without carrying buckets back to the setup, the version with the Nugget Zone highbanker adds that stage.

Where this kit pays for itself is volume: unscreened material, no pre-classifying, one person feeding all day.

Running the Trommel in the Field

Pitch is the control that earns its money. Raise it and material moves through fast, which suits light creek gravels. Drop it and the barrel holds material longer, giving heavy sand more time under the sprayers before it reaches the Cube. Creek gravel and beach sand behave nothing alike, and without pitch adjustment you end up buying for one and compromising on the other.

Both the hopper and the barrel carry their own sprayers, so material is washed automatically on the way through and the Cube below receives water at the right volume without you managing flow separately. The trommel drives off a low-energy 12-volt gear motor and retrofits to the pump supplied in this kit, so you are not hauling a second pump or a second power source to the water.

The trommel also comes back off. Pull it when you want to run the Cube bare, then remount it for the next trip. If you run the trommel most of the time, a blank tray covers the tray position it occupies.

    What's in the Kit

    • Gold Cube 4 Stack: one slick plate and three separator trays
    • Stand
    • Pump
    • Hose and hose adapters
    • Gold Cube Trommel with adjustable pitch and low-energy 12V gear motor
    • Trommel mounting hardware and drilling template

The trommel is the piece that changes how the day runs. On its own, a Gold Cube expects material already classified to roughly 1/8 inch, which means someone stands over a bucket and a screen. The trommel does that job continuously at 3/16 inch while washing the material, so the Cube sees a clean, consistent feed and you stay on the shovel. This kit does not include a 120-volt wall power supply; that is a separate configuration.

Does the Gold Cube 4 Stack Deluxe Complete Kit with Gold Trommel include a pump?

Yes, the Gold Cube 4 Stack Deluxe Complete Kit with Gold Trommel includes a pump along with hose and hose adapters. The Gold Cube Trommel retrofits to that same pump, so you are not adding a second pump or a second water source to the setup. The trommel's barrel is driven separately by a low-energy 12-volt gear motor. A 120-volt wall power supply is not part of this kit; that is sold as a separate configuration. What size material does the Gold Cube Trommel classify to?

The Gold Cube Trommel classifies to 3/16 inch. It runs a 3/16-inch punch plate, so oversize rock is rejected out the end of the barrel and only material at or below 3/16 inch drops through to the Gold Cube underneath. Sprayers in both the hopper and the barrel wash material as it tumbles, so the Cube receives a clean, consistent feed. Pitch is adjustable, letting you hold heavy sand in the barrel longer or move light creek gravel through faster.

Should I buy the Gold Cube 4 Stack or the Gold Cube 3 Stack?

Choose the Gold Cube 4 Stack when your ground produces flat gold. The 4 Stack runs one slick plate and three separator trays, one more separation stage than the Gold Cube 3 Stack. Flat gold, sometimes called glitter gold, resists settling and benefits from that extra stage, which is why beach sand and fine-gold tailings favor the 4 Stack. If your gold is chunky and rounded, the 3 Stack is enough, and you can add a tray later. Compare both in our Gold Cube range.
