The Minelab EQX 15 is a 15 x 12 inch elliptical Double-D waterproof search coil for the EQUINOX series, X-TERRA PRO, X-TERRA ELITE and VANQUISH 360, 460 and 560. Minelab says it provides maximum depth for specialized treasure hunting and is great for wide ground coverage in open spaces. It is the largest of the three EQX coils.

Who the EQX 15 is for

The EQX 15 suits detectorists who search large open fields, expansive beaches or relatively clean ground. Its wide footprint covers more ground with every swing, which pays off where targets are spread thin. EQUINOX 900 owners add it as a third size next to the EQX 06 and EQX 11 that come with the detector.

How we use the EQX 15

We fit the EQX 15 for broad areas where targets are widely separated, such as large open fields and long stretches of beach. A larger coil sees more ground mineralization and more nearby metal, so if the detector turns noisy, run Noise Cancel and lower the sensitivity as needed.

The mistake we see most is expecting the EQX 15 to go deeper everywhere. What it adds is more coverage and, under favorable conditions, a better response from certain deeper targets. In difficult mineralization or dense iron, the EQX 15 is not universally deeper than the EQX 11.

VANQUISH owners, check your model first: EQX coils fit the VANQUISH 360, 460 and 560, while the original VANQUISH 340, 440 and 540 use V8, V10 and V12 coils.
