The XP DEUS II WS6-ST Master package contains XP WS6-ST wireless stereo headphones with control module, the 28 cm (11 inch) round FMF coil, the S-Telescopic Lite stem and an XP MI-4 pinpointer. We recommend the DEUS II to experienced coin, relic, jewelry and beach hunters who want substantial control over how their detector responds. The MI-4 locates the target once the hole is open. The 11 inch coil is the middle size of XP's 9, 11 and 13 x 11 inch FMF coils.

The coil and WS6-ST module in this XP DEUS II WS6-ST Master
11 inch coil: the 28 cm (11 inch) FMF coil is the middle size of XP's 9, 11 and 13 x 11 inch FMF coils, covering more ground per swing than the 9 inch, and weighs 470 g.
WS6-ST module: the module clips to the headphones and has a 64 x 64 pixel screen, its own menus, USB-C charging and memory for up to 10 coils, and you can unclip it and mount it on the stem if you would rather see the screen while you swing. XP quotes the WS6-ST Master from 750 g (1.65 lb) with the 9 inch coil counting the module only, and 810 g (1.79 lb) with the headphones, on the 305 g S-Telescopic Lite stem. Two parts need charging, the coil and the WS6-ST, whose 365 mAh battery runs about 15 hours. The WS6-ST is a stereo headset, so XP's stereo audio features run on it.
What the add-ons in this XP DEUS II WS6-ST Master bundle do
XP MI-4 pinpointer: the MI-4 is XP's handheld pinpointer. The detector's non-motion pinpoint narrows the spot from the surface, and the MI-4 locates the target inside the hole once it is open. The MI-4 has its own water rating, separate from the DEUS II coil's 20 meters, so check it before you take it into the water. See our XP pinpointers.

About the XP DEUS II
What makes the XP DEUS II interesting is the amount of control it gives an experienced detectorist without giving up the light weight XP is known for: Fast Multi Frequency (FMF), adjustable Reactivity, detailed audio settings and a wireless design. Those capabilities matter most to experienced detectorists who want substantial control over how their detector responds. For someone who wants XP performance without the DEUS II's complexity, we would recommend the XP ICON or ICONX instead, and for natural gold in relatively manageable ground, the XP ORX with an appropriate HF coil is worth considering.
FMF processes several frequencies at the same time, which matters because different targets and ground conditions respond differently to different frequencies. The DEUS MONO program also runs any of 49 single frequencies from 4 to 45 kHz.
XP DEUS II programs and key settings
- Programs: 12 factory programs (General, Sensitive, Sensi FT, Fast, Park, Deep HC, DEUS MONO, Gold Field, Relic, Diving, Beach and Beach Sens) and 12 user slots for your own versions.
- Reactivity (9 levels, 0 to 5): XP's term for how quickly the detector responds to nearby targets. We would not use the fastest setting everywhere.
- Iron Volume (0 to 10): sets how loud iron signals are. Turning it down reduces the prominence of iron without throwing all of that information away.
- Audio: PWM and SQUARE audio, Multi Tones from 1 to 5 plus Pitch and Full Tones, Audio Response from 0 to 7, a threshold from 0 to 20 and a 4-band equalizer on each audio output.
- Ground balance, sensitivity and interference: Tracking, Grab or Manual ground balance (Manual in DEUS MONO only), sensitivity from 0 to 99, and a frequency shift and automatic frequency scan.
- Where to start: begin with a factory program before changing advanced settings, then learn Reactivity, ground balance, discrimination, Silencer and the difference between PWM and SQUARE audio.
Where the XP DEUS II works well, and where it does not
We would choose the DEUS II for demanding coin and relic hunting when advanced audio, target separation and customization matter, and for saltwater beaches. Picture a nineteenth-century farmhouse where square nails are scattered around an old foundation: we would start with General or Sensitive, then experiment with Reactivity and discrimination while listening carefully for repeatable non-ferrous responses between the iron signals. The DEUS II cannot reliably see through every nail, and iron masking is still a limitation. See more relic and treasure metal detectors. On an ocean beach, where wet salt sand produces a response of its own, the Beach and Beach Sens programs are designed for those conditions. For regular saltwater beach hunting, the DEUS II's FMF is a more suitable platform than the original XP DEUS. Black sand, severe mineralization and electrical interference can still affect performance. See our beach metal detectors.
Water and the XP DEUS II WS6-ST Master
XP rates the FMF coil IP68 to 20 meters (66 feet), but the WS6-ST is rainproof only, and in the Master configuration it is the control unit. Rain, wet sand and spray are fine; wading where the headphones could go under, or diving, is not, so this is a land and beach setup.
XP DEUS II wireless design and charging
XP's own digital radio in the 2.40 to 2.48 GHz band links the coil, the control unit and XP's wireless headphones, so there is no external coil cable and the detector goes together quickly. The trade-off is separate rechargeable parts: each FMF coil's 700 mAh battery runs 8 to 20 hours depending on program and frequency. XP's manual warns that opening the detector or changing a battery yourself voids the warranty.
One mistake to avoid with the XP DEUS II
The mistake we warn new owners about is setting Reactivity and iron filtering too aggressively, then assuming every remaining response is a desirable target. Those adjustments can affect depth and target response.
