What the 11" X35 coil does

The X35 coil runs 35 working frequencies from 3.7 kHz to 27.7 kHz, chosen from the remote or the WS5. The low end reaches deeper on large, high-conductivity targets such as silver coins and brass relics; the high end sharpens response on thin gold and small hammered coins. You can shift the frequency a step to sidestep power-line interference or a nearby detector, and the Deus hops across 36 radio channels automatically so the wireless link stays clean. The 11-inch DD coil is the depth-and-coverage choice: it covers a plowed field or beach noticeably faster than the 9-inch and reaches a little deeper on coin-size targets, while still separating well in moderate iron. The coil is fully waterproof and carries its own battery. When you need tighter separation in dense trash, the 9" X35 pairs to the same remote in seconds, and the 13x11" X35 goes the other way for open ground. Remote control and WS5: two full controllers

The remote is the primary interface. Its backlit LCD shows target ID, iron probability, frequency and battery status for every component, and it holds every setting the Deus offers: 10 factory programs and 8 user slots, discrimination with notch, multi-tone and full-tone audio with adjustable tone breaks, iron volume, reactivity, sensitivity, transmit power, audio response, and ground balance in manual, pumping, tracking or beach modes. Pinpointing is available in dynamic mode or four static modes. Clip the remote to the stem, or hip-mount it with the optional hip mount case and protect the screen with the silicone cover.

The WS5 wireless headphones are XP's full-size, over-ear set with a built-in LCD and keypad on the earcup. Unlike a plain set of XP Deus headphones, the WS5 replicates the remote's menu, so you can leave the remote at home and run the detector entirely from the headset. The sealed earcups block wind and surf noise, which is why beach and wet-weather hunters tend to pick the WS5 over the lighter WS4 backphone. The frame folds flat and is rated against rain.

Weight, stem and battery

The complete system, coil, stem and remote, weighs about 900 g (just under 2 lb) in hand; the WS5 sits on your head, not the stem. Run it headphone-only and the detector drops to roughly 750 g. The patented S-telescopic stem folds in about five seconds and the coil comes off with one wing nut. Each component has its own lithium battery: the coil runs about 15 hours, the remote and WS5 about 20 hours each. All three charge together from the included three-plug USB cable in roughly three hours, from any USB port or the optional XP 110V USB charger. Firmware updates load to the remote and WS5 over the same cable.

Where it fits

The 11-inch Deus is the field and beach configuration. Plowed farmland, pasture, colonial and Civil War camps, and open parks all reward the extra coverage, and the Deus's fast recovery speed still pulls a coin from beside a nail.
