Commercial Equipment

A 3D ground scanner is a different class of instrument from a conventional metal detector. Instead of a single beep over a shallow target, these systems take readings across a grid and build a 3D image of what's beneath the surface, distinguishing metal objects, cavities, voids, and structures at depths far beyond a standard coil. They're the tools professional treasure hunters, archaeologists, and survey crews use when depth and imaging matter. We carry the leading lines (OKM's 3D ground-scan and long-range systems, the Nokta Invenio imaging detector, and Tero Vido and Groundtech scanners) as an authorized dealer, with expert support for spec'ing the right system.

What a 3D Ground Scanner Does

Conventional VLF and pulse-induction detectors are built to find small targets near the surface and tell you very little about what's deeper. A 3D ground scanner works by graphic-imaging: you scan an area in a grid, and the system maps the conductivity and structure of the ground into a 3D visualization, showing buried metal, cavities, tunnels, and voids by position and depth. That makes them suited to the jobs a coil can't do: locating deep caches and chambers, mapping a site before excavation, and confirming an anomaly's size and depth before you dig. Some systems add long-range location to cover ground quickly and pinpoint a search area, then switch to 3D scanning to image it in detail. These are professional instruments with a real learning curve and a price to match, but for deep, image-based detection there's no substitute.

OKM 3D Ground-Scan & Long-Range Systems

OKM is the benchmark in 3D ground imaging, with a tiered lineup from portable to flagship. The Fusion Ultra Light and Fusion Light are the accessible entry into OKM 3D scanning, while the Fusion Professional and Fusion Professional Plus add live-scan imaging and the SRIS sensor. At the top, the Evolution NTX, the long-range thermo-scan Delta Ranger, and the multi-sensor flagship eXp 5500 deliver the deepest, most detailed imaging OKM makes, and the Gepard GPR adds ground penetrating radar. Need to locate underground water or cavities rather than metal? The OKM GeoSeeker images groundwater and voids to extreme depth. See the full OKM range for specs and model-by-model detail.

Nokta Invenio: Imaging at a Lower Entry Point

The Nokta Invenio brings target-imaging technology to a more accessible price than the high-end OKM systems. It estimates the shape, size, and depth of buried targets and gives you a visual readout, bridging the gap between a conventional detector and a full 3D ground-scanning system. It's a strong starting point for hunters who want imaging without a five-figure investment. See the Invenio collection for the Invenio and Invenio Pro side by side.

Groundtech, Tero Vido & More 3D Scanning Systems

Rounding out the category, Groundtech scanners such as the GR-4, GR-4 Dual, A2, and A2 GEO combine 3D ground imaging with pulse induction detection on several models, and Tero Vido ground-imaging systems include the TVPI and Expander series and the Tero Vido 3D System. Both are established lines of 3D ground-scanning equipment for deep, image-based searching. Browse all the brands above to compare approaches, and reach out if you want help weighing one system against another.

Who 3D Ground Scanners Are For

These systems are built for serious, depth-focused work, not everyday park hunting: professional treasure and cache hunters chasing deep targets a coil can't reach, archaeology and survey teams mapping sites non-invasively, and prospectors and water-finders locating veins, voids, and groundwater. If you're cleaning clad out of a park, a conventional detector from our metal detectors range is the right tool. If you need to image the ground in 3D and reach extreme depth, this is the category, and we'll help you match the system to the job.

Why Buy Your 3D Ground Scanner from Serious Detecting

These are major investments, so it matters who you buy from. We're an authorized dealer for the professional brands we carry: genuine equipment, full manufacturer warranty, and real support for setup, scanning technique, and interpreting results. Financing is available, orders of $99 or more ship free in the lower 48, local pickup is available out of Michigan, and thousands of verified buyers have rated us 4.9 stars. Spec'ing a system for a specific job? Tell us your targets, depth, and terrain and we'll help you choose the right scanner.

What is a 3D ground scanner?

A 3D ground scanner is an imaging detector that scans an area in a grid and builds a 3D picture of what is underground, showing buried metal, cavities, voids and structures by position and depth. A conventional metal detector only signals over targets near the surface. Treasure hunters, archaeologists and survey crews use 3D scanners when depth and imaging matter. We carry systems from OKM, Groundtech, Nokta Invenio and Tero Vido.

How is a 3D ground scanner different from a regular metal detector?

A 3D ground scanner differs from a regular metal detector in depth and in what it shows you. A regular VLF or pulse induction detector finds small targets near the surface and gives an audio tone or a target ID number. A 3D ground scanner images the ground, showing the depth, position and rough shape of larger, deeper targets and cavities. It reaches much deeper and gives you a visual map, but it costs more and takes more skill to read. For coins, jewelry and relics in the top foot of soil, a conventional detector from our metal detectors range is the better tool.

How deep do 3D ground scanners detect?

How deep a 3D ground scanner detects depends on the system, the size of the target and the ground conditions. For large objects and cavities, professional systems reach into the multi-meter range, far beyond a standard search coil. Water detectors go further: the OKM GeoSeeker is rated to 820 ft and the GeoSeeker Mini to 328 ft for groundwater and voids. These systems are not built for single coins or small jewelry. Our guide on how deep metal detectors go explains the factors, and if you contact us with your target and ground we will give you a realistic depth expectation.

Which 3D ground scanner should I choose?

The right 3D ground scanner depends on your budget, your targets and the depth you need. The Nokta Invenio is the most accessible entry into target imaging. Groundtech systems such as the GR-4 Dual and A2 pair 3D scanning with a pulse induction detector. OKM scales from the Fusion line, with live-scan imaging on the Fusion Professional Plus, up to the eXp 5500 multi-sensor system. For groundwater and cavities rather than metal, the OKM GeoSeeker is the tool. Tell us your targets, depth needs and budget through our contact page and we will match the system to the job.

Are long-range and 3D scanners legitimate?

Yes, the professional long-range and 3D scanners we carry are legitimate instruments. OKM, Nokta, Groundtech and Tero Vido are established manufacturers whose imaging systems are used by professionals worldwide. Be cautious with cheap "long-range" or "gold scanner" gadgets sold online, which often don't perform as claimed. We only sell genuine equipment with the full manufacturer warranty; see the brands we carry.
