Nokta FINDX Overview for Owners

The Nokta FINDX runs a single 15 kHz operating frequency with Field, Park and Beach search modes, a 0 to 99 target ID, notch discrimination, pinpoint, five sensitivity levels and five volume levels, with a backlit graphic mono LCD and a keypad backlight. Its FX28 11 inch DD coil is waterproof to 1 m (3.3 ft); on the FINDX only the search coil is waterproof, so the system box has to stay dry. The FINDX weighs 1.2 kg (2.6 lb), adjusts from 63 to 132 cm (25 to 52 inch) on an aluminum and plastic shaft, and has a built-in 2300 mAh lithium battery that Nokta rates at an average of 12 hours per charge, with about 3 hours to charge over USB. The FINDX box holds the detector, the coil with cover, headphones, a standard digger, the USB charger and data cable and a carrying bag. Nokta covers the FINDX for 2 years.

Upgrading from the FINDX to the FINDX Pro

The FINDX Pro keeps the 15 kHz frequency, the 0 to 99 target ID, the five sensitivity and volume levels, the 2.6 lb weight, the battery and the shaft. It adds IP68 waterproofing to 5 m (16 ft) for the whole detector, system box included, a fourth search mode for jewelry with four tones, the SX28 11 inch coil with the SX24 and SX35 coils as options, and a premium digger and 6.3 mm (1/4 inch) headphone adapter in the box. Getting the Most from the FINDX

Park mode is designed for coins and jewelry in urban areas and parks, with three tones: low for iron IDs 01 to 14, medium for gold and non-ferrous IDs 15 to 41 and high for 42 to 99. Field mode is recommended for relic hunting, with a low tone for iron and a rising tone for non-ferrous targets as the coil nears them. Beach mode is built for conductive ground such as wet salty sand and notches out IDs 0 to 15 by default. Sensitivity has five levels and is preset for each mode, and each mode keeps its own setting. Use pinpoint to narrow a target before you dig, and pair the FINDX with a handheld pinpointer for faster recoveries.

Water, Weather and Batteries

The FX28 coil can go under water to 1 m (3.3 ft), so you can sweep wet sand and the shallows, but keep the system box out of the water, and note that the headphones in the box are not waterproof. After salt water, Nokta's manual asks you to wash the coil only, without chemicals, and to wipe the screen and shaft dry with a soft, nonscratch cloth. The built-in battery charges over USB from a charging adapter or a power bank with the FINDX USB cable. For longer days, Nokta lists its waterproof 5500 mAh lithium polymer battery with charger as a FINDX accessory.
