Nokta Legend Pro Pack Metal Detector Overview
The Nokta Legend is a simultaneous multi-frequency (SMF) metal detector, and we offer it as the Legend Pro Pack. In Park and Field mode it runs Multi (M1, M2 or M3) or a single 4, 10, 15, 20 or 40 kHz frequency; Beach mode runs Multi only (MW or MD), and Gold Field mode runs Multi, 20 or 40 kHz. You get Park, Field, Beach, Gold Field and Beast modes, Target IDs from 01 to 60, 30 sensitivity levels, recovery speed 1 to 10, Iron Filter, notch, Auto, Manual or Tracking ground balance, a 13-channel frequency shift, FerroCheck, four user profiles, vibration, a backlit display and an LED flashlight. The whole detector is IP68 waterproof to 5 m (16 ft), weighs 1.4 kg (3.1 lb) with the coil, and runs 8 to 20 hours on its built-in 5050 mAh lithium-polymer battery, depending on settings. The Pro Pack adds a second coil, Bluetooth aptX Low Latency headphones and a waterproof spare battery with charger. Nokta covers the Legend with a 3-year warranty.
Legend Pro Pack vs. Legend 2: Which Should You Buy?
The Nokta Legend 2 keeps the Legend's frequencies, Multi options, 30 sensitivity levels, recovery speed range, ground balance types and IP68 rating. It moves to a 01 to 99 Target ID scale, lists Relic mode where the Legend has Beast mode, shows the Target ID in pinpoint, adds a 19-channel frequency shift, a keypad backlight, wireless software updates and bone conduction headphone support, and runs on a larger 6700 mAh lithium-ion battery. It is lighter at 2.6 lb (1.2 kg) and uses its own LD coils; Nokta lists the LG coils for the Legend only.
The Legend Pro Pack makes the most sense for buyers who want two coils, wireless headphones and a spare battery in one box, and for Legend owners who already have LG coils. If you want the finer 99-point Target ID scale, Relic mode, the lighter build and the newer LD coil range, we recommend the Legend 2.
Legend Pro Pack, Best For:
- Detectorists who want one waterproof SMF detector for parks, fields, beaches and gold ground
- Buyers who want a 6 inch coil for iron-heavy spots plus a 12 x 9 inch coil for open ground in the same box
- Beach and shallow-water hunters who want a spare waterproof battery for long days
- Legend owners who already use LG coils and accessories
Legend 2, Best For:
- Hunters who want 99 Target IDs and the Target ID shown in pinpoint
- Relic hunters who want Relic mode and a lighter detector for long days
Key Features That Matter in the Field
Multi transmits several frequencies at once, and Nokta's manual says it typically gives more accurate Target IDs at depth than a single frequency. In Park and Field mode, M1 is more sensitive to higher conductors, M2 detects lower conductors better, and M3 is meant for humid, wet or conductive soil, where it reduces moisture falses. On the beach, MW is for wet sand and underwater use, and MD for dry sand with very low salinity; Nokta says to use MW on dry sand that is salty. Where there is electromagnetic interference, a single frequency may be less noisy than Multi. Nokta suggests 4 kHz for larger high-conductive targets only, and 20 or 40 kHz for shallow, thin jewelry.
Gold Field mode is built for mineralized goldfields. Beast mode is a separate mode, selected by pressing the frequency button in Gold Field mode: it resets the ground balance so deep coins and large masses can be detected. Nokta's manual says the Legend works without ground balancing on most terrain, and that ground balancing adds depth and stability, mainly in highly mineralized ground.
Recovery speed runs 1 to 10. A lower setting adds depth but makes targets that lie close together harder to separate; a higher setting separates close targets better at some cost in depth, and Nokta suggests a higher setting for noisy beach sand or underwater. FerroCheck shows the ferrous and non-ferrous ratio of a target on the screen, which helps flag iron trash such as bottle caps; Nokta notes it reads best on shallower targets. We recommend starting with the factory settings and changing one setting at a time.
Where the Nokta Legend Works Best and Its Limits
The Legend Pro Pack covers parks, plowed fields and pasture, beaches and shallow water, and Gold Field mode adds a setup for mineralized gold ground. IP68 waterproofing covers wading and submersion to 5 m (16 ft). Nokta's manual says the included Bluetooth headphones are not waterproof, and the wireless link works only while the control box is above water, so use the vibration alerts or wired waterproof headphones when the detector goes under. We recommend the LG15 for tight spots and iron clusters and the LG30 for open ground. Pair the Legend with a pinpointer for faster recovery.
Coils and Accessories That Fit the Nokta Legend
Nokta lists five waterproof DD search coils for the Legend: the LG15 6 inch, LG24 9.5 x 6 inch, LG28 11 inch, LG30 12 x 9 inch and LG35 13.5 x 12.5 inch. The LG15 and LG30 ship in the Pro Pack. We recommend the LG35 for covering open fields and beaches faster and the LG24 as a middle size. Each coil has a matching coil cover in this collection, along with the 28R coil mounting hardware.
The Legend takes the same Nokta middle and lower shafts, including the carbon-fiber versions, and the same armrest and armrest strap as Nokta's Score, Simplex and FINDX detectors. The Legend collection also holds the system box cover, nano-glass screen protectors, the USB charging cable, the waterproof 5500 mAh external battery and charger, Nokta Bluetooth aptX Low Latency headphones, Nokta waterproof headphones, the 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) headphone adapter, the DetectoBag backpack, the universal carrying bag and The Legend Handbook by Andy Sabisch.
Legend Series Comparison
Both Nokta Legend models run SMF with the same frequency choices, 30 sensitivity levels, recovery speed 1 to 10, Auto, Manual and Tracking ground balance, IP68 waterproofing to 5 m (16 ft) and a 3-year warranty. The differences sit in search modes, Target ID resolution, tones, user profiles, battery, weight and coils.
