Minelab Coil Compatibility: Which Coils Fit Your Detector

Minelab coils come in four families, and each family fits a set list of detectors. The VX coils (V8X, V10X, V12X) fit the Minelab Vanquish 360, 460 and 560 and the X-TERRA PRO and X-TERRA ELITE. The EQX coils (EQX 06, EQX 11, EQX 15) fit every Equinox, the X-TERRA PRO and ELITE, and the Vanquish 360, 460 and 560. The older V coils (V8, V10, V12) are for the Vanquish 340, 440 and 540, and the M coils fit only the Manticore. Match the letters, not the size.

Minelab coil compatibility chart

This chart lists each current Minelab detector, the coil it ships with, and the Minelab coils that fit it, as of October 2026. Compatibility comes from Minelab's coil compatibility chart, manuals and spec pages; the standard coil comes from each detector's tech specs.

Every coil in the chart is a Double-D. The Equinox 600 and 800 and the Vanquish 440 and 540 are no longer current, but their coils are still sold: the Equinox 600 and Equinox 800 take the same EQX 06, EQX 11 and EQX 15 coils as the Equinox 900, and the Vanquish 440 and 540 take the V8, V10 and V12.

V coils versus VX coils on the Minelab Vanquish

The Minelab Vanquish changed coil families when the 360, 460 and 560 replaced the 340, 440 and 540. The 360 and 460 ship with the V10X, the Vanquish 560 ships with the V12X, and the 560 PRO-PACK adds the V8X.

Minelab's coil compatibility list puts the V8, V10 and V12 under the Vanquish 340, 440 and 540 and says all Vanquish models take them. That written list was published in March 2025, before the 360, 460 and 560 came out. Minelab sells the V8 as a coil for the Vanquish 40 series.

The sizes are the same (8x5, 10x7 and 12x9 inches), so the names are easy to mix up. For the V and VX coils, our advice is to match the family the detector ships with: a coil with an X in the name for a Vanquish 360, 460 or 560, and one without for a Vanquish 340.

The VX coils are also the X-TERRA coils. A V8X bought for a Vanquish 560 fits an X-TERRA PRO, and the reverse.

The Vanquish 360, 460 and 560 also take the EQX coils: the 6" EQX 06 and 11" EQX 11 round coils, and the 15x12" EQX 15 elliptical, which is larger than any VX coil.

Minelab X-TERRA PRO and ELITE coils

The Minelab X-TERRA PRO and X-TERRA ELITE take two coil families, the elliptical VX coils and the EQX coils, the same range as the Vanquish 360, 460 and 560. Both ship with the 12x9" V12X.

On an X-TERRA, the first coil I add is a small one. The V8X keeps the elliptical sweep people are used to and gets in between nails and pull tabs that the V12X covers in one pass. If you hunt mostly open fields and beaches instead, the EQX 15 covers more ground per swing than anything in the VX family.

Minelab Equinox coils

The Minelab Equinox 900 and Equinox 700 take the same three Minelab coils, all waterproof Double-Ds:

The Equinox 900 ships with both the EQX 11 and the EQX 06, so the only Minelab coil a 900 owner can add is the EQX 15. The Equinox 700 ships with the EQX 11 only, so the EQX 06 is the usual first add-on there.

Minelab lists the EQX coils as compatible with the older Equinox 600 and 800 as well, so a coil bought for an 800 moves over to a 900 when you upgrade.

Minelab Manticore coils

The Minelab Manticore takes only its own M coils: the M8 (8x5.5" elliptical), M9 (9" round), M11 (11" round, standard) and M15 (15x12" elliptical). Minelab states the Manticore works exclusively with this lineup, and the M coils do not fit the Equinox, X-TERRA or Vanquish. All four are waterproof to 5 m (16 ft). Coiltek coils for Minelab detectors

Coiltek, an Australian coil maker, builds aftermarket coils on the same connectors. Coiltek states its NOX coils fit the Equinox 600, 700, 800 and 900, the X-TERRA PRO and ELITE, and the Vanquish 360, 460 and 560, plug and play. Its MYTHTEK coil fits the Manticore.

Note on the NOX 14x9: Coiltek's product page lists the Equinox and X-TERRA PRO only, while its NOX series page includes the X-TERRA ELITE and Vanquish 360, 460 and 560 for the whole series. Ask us before buying a 14x9 for an ELITE or a Vanquish.

Coiltek rates the NOX coils for submersion to 3 m (10 ft) on the Equinox 600 and 800 and to 5 m (16 ft) on the Equinox 700 and 900 and the X-TERRA PRO. Its NOX 10x5 and NOX 18 pages extend the 5 m rating to the X-TERRA ELITE and Vanquish 360, 460 and 560; the series page and the 14x9 page do not list a depth for those three. Coil mistakes we see at the counter

• Mixing up V and VX coils on the Vanquish. A V10 and a V10X look alike in a listing. The Vanquish 360, 460 and 560 ship with the X version and the 340 with the plain V, so those are the VX or V coils we fit.
• Expecting a bigger coil to find small targets deeper. A 15" coil covers more ground and reaches larger, deeper objects, but small coins and small gold are often easier to hear on the stock coil or a smaller one.
• Skipping noise cancel and ground balance after a swap. A different coil reads the ground differently. Run a noise cancel and re-balance before judging the new coil.
