The AlgoForce E1500 Plus is a patented Ultra-Fine pulse induction gold detector designed and assembled in Australia. At 1.8 lbs for the control box and shaft, and under 4.4 lbs with a small coil and power bank fitted, it is the lightest PI gold detector available. It pairs the small-gold sensitivity normally associated with VLF machines with the depth and ground-handling of pulse induction, adds an on-screen target ID, and runs from any USB power bank. It accepts the decades-deep catalog of 5-pin Minelab SD, GP and GPX mono coils, so you can build the setup you want from day one.
What You Gain Stepping Up to the E1500 Plus
- Ultra-Fine pulse induction: Patented AlgoForce technology tuned for sub-gram gold in heavily mineralized goldfield soils, with the stability to run near power lines and in urban settings where VLF machines fall apart.
- On-screen target ID (0–99): Press the pinpoint button, sweep the target, and read a conductive ID on the display. Lead shot, the classic small-nugget imposter, returns a consistent reading so you can leave it in the ground.
- Four detection modes: Ultra-Fine, Fine, Normal and Large (Salt), plus Hot, Mild and Beach soil settings. V3.0.0 firmware adds a Standard mode for new users and an Intermediate step up to the full Advanced menu.
- Dual ground-balanced detection channels with auto ground balance: The detector tracks ground changes for you, and a real-time scrolling signal display shows what the coil is seeing.
- Coil optimization for up to five coils: Store settings for each coil you own, and let the auto or manual frequency scan pick the quietest operating point for the conditions.
- USB power: No proprietary battery. A 10,000 mAh power bank gives roughly 10–12 hours of detecting; the optional 30,800 mAh pack in the bundles below runs for days.
- Independent threshold tone and volume, adjustable backlight: Set the audio to your ear and keep the screen readable at dawn and dusk.

Field Use
Hot Mineralized Goldfields
Ironstone, red clay and black sand push most VLF detectors into constant chatter. Set the soil type to Hot, run Ultra-Fine or Fine mode with a 9 in or 10x5 in mono coil, and let the dual ground-balanced channels absorb the ground. The signal display makes it easy to tell a faint nugget response from ground noise before you dig.
Old Diggings and Trashy Ground
Run Fine or Normal mode and use the pinpoint target ID on every repeatable signal. Shotgun pellets and boot tacks return consistent IDs, so you dig the targets that matter and pass on the rest. A pinpointer speeds recovery once you have opened the hole.
Open Flats and Deeper Gold
Fit the Coiltek 14x9 in Elite-Max or a larger 5-pin mono coil from Coiltek, Nugget Finder or Detech, switch to Normal or Large mode, and cover ground. Coil optimization stores the settings for each coil so swapping back to a small coil for a patch takes seconds.
Salt and Beach
Large (Salt) mode with the Beach soil setting keeps the detector stable on wet salt sand. The control box is not submersible, so keep it out of the water.
Coil Compatibility
The E1500 Plus accepts any 5-pin Minelab SD, GP and GPX mono coil (GPX 6000 coils excluded), which opens up years of production from Coiltek, Nugget Finder, Detech and Minelab. Browse the search coil collection and filter by GPX compatibility to see what fits.
Build and Power
The control box weighs 1.8 lbs on the shaft; a complete rig with a small coil and power bank stays under 4.4 lbs. The three-piece carbon fiber shaft telescopes down for a backpack or carry-on and extends for full-height swinging, with the adjustable length useful in tight gullies. Power comes from any USB power bank strapped to the shaft, charged over USB-C. The E1500 Plus carries a 2-year AlgoForce manufacturer warranty.
