The Garrett ACE 150 and ACE 250 instruction manual is the factory owner's manual for both machines, offered here as a free digital download. One file covers the pair, so it is the right download whichever of the two you own. It is what you want if you picked up a used ACE with no paperwork, inherited one from a relative, or lost the printed booklet somewhere between the garage and the last hunt.
Who Needs This Manual
The Garrett ACE 150 and ACE 250 are both out of production, so almost nobody arrives at this page with a sealed box. The people who need this file are secondhand buyers, owners digging a long-stored detector out of a closet, and anyone trying to work out what a control does before handing the machine to a kid for the first time. If you own a newer ACE, you want a different download. Our digital manual collection lists a separate file for the ACE 200, ACE 300, ACE 400 and Apex.
What the Manual Covers
- ACE parts and detector assembly
- Features and controls, documented separately for the ACE 150 and the ACE 250
- Hunting with your ACE detector
- Digging a target
- Troubleshooting guide
- Bench tests
- Metal detecting code of ethics and cautions
- Caring for your ACE detector
- Warranty, service and accessories
- Suggested reading
The controls chapter is the reason to keep this file on a phone. Because the ACE 150 and ACE 250 have different panels, the manual walks each one separately rather than making you guess which paragraph applies to your machine. The bench test section is the other one worth doing properly, since running a few known coins past the coil on a table teaches the target ID scale faster than an afternoon in a park.
The Difference Between the ACE 150 and the ACE 250
Both machines share the same 6.5 in x 9 in PROformance searchcoil and the same basic layout, so a lot of the manual applies equally. The ACE 250 is the more capable of the two:
- 12 target ID segments on the upper scale, against five on the ACE 150
- Eight sensitivity levels, against four
- A depth indicator reading 2 in, 4 in, 6 in and 8+ in, against 2 in, 4 in and 6+ in
- Five search modes (All Metal, Jewelry, Custom, Relics, Coins) against three (All Metal, Jewelry, Coins)
- DISCRIM, ELIM and PINPOINT buttons, none of which the ACE 150 has
- A continuously lit battery level display
The practical upshot is that the ACE 250 lets you notch out a specific band of trash and pinpoint electronically, while the ACE 150 asks you to do both by ear and by coil wiggle. If you are replacing rather than repairing, the Garrett ACE 300 is the closest current machine to the old ACE 250, with a larger coil and a finer target ID scale.
Languages and How the Download Works
Choose English, Spanish or French before adding the manual to the cart. Once the order is complete the download link appears on the confirmation page, in your confirmation email, and in your account, so you can keep the PDF on a phone or tablet and have it with you in the field. There is no charge and no shipping step.
