How It Works

The Mountain Goat uses the same reverse helix technology as commercial placer mining operations, just scaled down for prospectors. The spiral riffles inside the tube rotate to bring heavy materials (like gold) up to the high end while lighter materials flow out as tailings. This self-cleaning action means you can run material continuously without stopping to clean out concentrates like traditional sluice boxes require.

Set it up in a mortar mixing tub with 5 gallons of water for recirculating operation, or drop it directly into a stream. The 750 gallon-per-hour pump provides enough water flow to keep material moving while the ¼ inch deep spiral riffles capture fine gold. Screen your material to ½ inch for best results, though rocks up to ¾ inch will pass through.
