The Fisher Impulse AQ 49Wh lithium-ion battery pack is for Impulse AQ owners who run out of power before they run out of tide. The stock NiMH pack on the Impulse AQ gives roughly 3.5 hours; this pack is rated for 5.5 to 6 hours, enough to work a full low-tide window without carrying a second pack. It weighs 13.3 ounces and ships with its own charger.

    Do you need it?

If your beach sessions run under three hours, the stock battery already covers you and this is money better spent on the 8-inch Impulse AQ coil or waterproof headphones. If you hunt from the outgoing tide through the turn, or you travel to beaches where you cannot recharge between sessions, the longer runtime is the upgrade that changes the day. Fisher also lists a 98 Wh version rated for 11 to 12 hours at 20.3 ounces; ask us about availability if you need that much runtime on one charge.

Using the pack in the field

Charge it fully with the included charger before the first hunt; a full charge takes about five hours. Lithium-ion holds voltage more evenly through the discharge than NiMH, so the detector's threshold stays steadier late in the session. Rinse the pack and its connector with fresh water after saltwater use and dry it before storage, the same routine you use for the control box. For general care and charging habits see our guide to maximizing your metal detector's battery life.

How long does the Fisher Impulse AQ lithium-ion battery pack last?

The Fisher Impulse AQ lithium-ion battery pack lasts 5.5 to 6 hours on a full charge, compared with roughly 3.5 hours from the stock NiMH pack. Does the Fisher Impulse AQ lithium-ion battery pack come with a charger?

Yes, the Fisher Impulse AQ lithium-ion battery pack comes with its own charger. A full charge takes approximately five hours, and the pack is designed exclusively for the Impulse AQ, so it will not fit other Fisher metal detectors. Charge it fully before the first hunt and rinse the connector with fresh water after saltwater use.
